HOW TO : LX470 Bi-LED projector retrofit Morimoto MLED 2.0

Just to recap - I took slightly different steps than OP:

1. Heat gun instead of oven
2. Reverse mounted the projector (vs orientation in steps above)
3. Used factory headlight cap, drilled 12mm hole for morimoto harness
4. Amazon'd 9005->9006 Y-splitter to get dual high beams/bi-xenon
5. Amazon'd 9006->bare leads harness and spliced in factory plug (the 'turn signal' style connector that mates to body harness) for low beam
6. I made a test bench using a Noco Genius 10 charger to test headlight alignment before installation

As you can see I'm in the middle of installing an ARB bumper. I'll post output shots after I polish the lenses. Hardest part of this job is dealing with the butyl. I found it to be a nightmare!

Any creative spots to mount the MLED ballasts?
@zipdoa I am a noob in terms of lighting, sorry for all the question but can you explain the wiring a bit more? I can't make out exactly what you have going on in your photos.

4. Amazon'd 9005->9006 Y-splitter to get dual high beams/bi-xenon
5. Amazon'd 9006->bare leads harness and spliced in factory plug (the 'turn signal' style connector that mates to body harness) for low beam

re: #4. What plugs into the female end of your Y splitter?
re: #4. Where does the male end of your Y splitter connect to?
re: #5. You are splicing this in before the connector correct?

Does the way you have this wired up still allow for DRL to function properly + bi-xenon?
Did you have to use any diodes?

Thanks!

I reverse mounted the projector but still don’t have enough space to clear the shroud. Will have to grind the shroud a bit. I think the NHK lenses are slightly larger than the morimotos

@DoriDori resurfacing an old thread here - thanks again for the detailed write up.

Couldn't find anything on this so thought I'd ask, do you think there would be enough space for the MLED in the high beam area or would there not be enough space?

Secondly, in your original post - you linked an "LB Bracket Kit" which is no longer available but also linked the MLED bracket from Lightwrerks. Just to confirm, do you need to select brackets from one of these two or do you need both?

I don’t believe so. Not sure if the mini would fit either.

I've seen a quad bi-led setup before on lx470 so its possible. It would probably be custom though for the high beams.

Quick question for anyone who’s installed Morimoto M-LED 2.0s. I’m testing my retrofit on an LX470 with the housings still open. Passenger side looks normal, but the driver side has a noticeable hotspot and the cutoff itself isn’t straight, there’s a dip/warp in the line near the center.

Aiming moves the beam up/down/left/right but the hotspot and uneven cutoff stay in the same spot. I also powered the projector outside the housing and it does the same thing. Before I seal everything up, trying to figure out if this is normal for these projectors or if one might be defective.
