That is a very rare and highly desireable 80 for most on this board. Notice it has no sunroof, solid rear windows, no third row seats, steel wheels, basic deck, cloth seats AND Factory Lockers. All from the factory and probably a special order originally.

Wow, interesting rig. May have been ordered by someone who moved here from a country where almost all cruisers are equipped that way. Definitely not the ex soccer mom, real estate agent, stock broker vehicles alot of us are riding around in these days!!!

It even has steel wheels. Nice.

I was told by LandPimp that few early 80's came with the fixed 3rd-row windows.

Personally I would rather have the 3rd-row sliding windows and the 3rd-row seats (I could always remove them when I don't need them) , as well as the sun roof.;)

But hey, what do they say... to each his/their own! :hillbilly:

One of the most hated features on our fully loaded VX trim is the sliding 3rd-row window as I have in mine because many molding has been damaged by thieves when breaking inside. Opening it with a screwdriver is a matter of seconds.

Because of the location of the opening and sides of my roof tent I am one the few who once in a while keep this sliding window wide opened when camping, but the common owners keep them always closed.

Some day I will remove both sliding windows and replace by a single panel window as they came standard on our plain trim cruiser. I the R&D would asked me to have the chance to choose what was between a rear A/C or my refrigerated console the former would win withouth any regrets, ask my childs !!!!!

If I buy it, maybe we can trade rear windows. I have to have the sliding windows for my dogs. The only thing weird is that Autocheck is showing that it had 36K miles in Jan 2001 and then it jumps to 135K miles in Jan 2002. Has to be some kind of mistake. The engine looks clean enough to eat off of. I didn't even notice the no sunroof feature at first but I like it. Trying to convince the wife we need two cruisers. :hmm:

jonheld, if I lived on the east coast I would be bidding on it because it is in Arizona! I bought a northern "rust-free" car a few years ago, never again! You would be amazed how easy it is to work on a southern/western car, we don't even own any liquid wrench!

fj80toyman on this board has one similar to this. I think he said it originally was a special order for his company.

Indeed a rare find but 66k seem to good to be true. Did someone run a carfax as well? Overall, I'd say the only thing missing is a manual tranny ;)
Keep us posted.

I remember hearing something way back that some 80s like this came into the US by way of Hawaii. Looks like a nice truck to have.

Also, note that it has no running boards and NO"Factory" roof rack (port installed), which means no holes in the roof...

I noticed it doesn't have the 2nd gear start button either (or maybe it's the power button that is missing - can't tell for sure). I thought they all had both buttons.

If it pass a close inspection I would bought it with my eyes closed should I live in the States, looks like the PO had good care.

It's funny. My dad overseas has a japanese fj62, and has solid rear side windows. He is asking if I can find him sliding rear windows :).

We all want what we don't have :)

The "power, 2nd gear start" are in the same switch on the console. Push it one way and you have the better shift points, push it the other way and you have 2nd gear start. Leave both buttons out and you have neither.

One trick I found to help secure to rear sliders is to stick a zip tie in the latch mechanism. 2 on each window. This makes it extremely difficult to push the latch open enough to get the window open. Not impossible, but at least harder and it only takes a few seconds to install. I was working on a rod mounted in between the two latches that will really keep them from getting open...sort of like a piece of wood in a sliding glass door. But I got distracted on other projects.

My '95 came without the roofrack and without the tow hitch or lockers, but with everything else. Even so, the sticker (and paid by the PO) price was still $48,000. I don't know if was possible to special order, but I could see someone pinching pennies and trying get one without stuff they dont' want. Probably still paid at least $45K for it, though when it was new.

In the 93 U.S. spec brochure, there's one picture of one without alloy wheels, but none with solid rear window.

It does list the following items as optional: Sunroof, alloy wheels, Premium cassett deck with equalizier or the 3 in 1 radio most of us have, leather interior, 3rd seat package, which then includes sliding rear windows. It says that the leather package includes the 3rd seat package.

And roof rack and tow hitch as specificly a dealer installed item. (Some here have said these were port installed, probably per dealer request.)

Here's a strange one. Running boards aren't mentioned anywhere in the brochure as an option or otherwise and they aren't shown in any of the pictures either.

So...what is the deal with these running boards of ours that were only found on U.S. spec vehicles?

BTW, I didn't do a full carfax, but a preliminary shows 17 enteries, which seems kind of high.

They're both there you can barely see the one in the front.

The wear on the steering wheel and discoloration of the plastic on the airbag doesn't look like only 66k miles.

I thought the same thing about the steering wheel wear, but it could be the hot arizona sun.

BTW, I checked my '95 brochure and same deal, no photos of the running boards on any of the rigs, but it does finally list it as a dealer installed option. Everything else is the same.

The casette only with 9 speakers is standard.
