Our 1964 FJ40 in June 1973 just after purchase on the fire trail below our home in Berowra NSW Australia.
So the 40 guys don't feel left out, I'll pollute my own thread.![]()
My first 40 in 1980? I only had it five years or so. Notice the body condition of a nine year old used Toyota in New England. I remember the patches well..........that red section is a trunk lid from a '68 Fiat 124 Sport Coupe, the rocker panel a shelving section from my job at Big A auto parts. Up until a few years ago when I lost my breaker bar extension ............. I still had pieces of the "useless" soft top bows kicking around.
Could I get the same results with a sprinkler and rock salt.
had my cruiser for near twenty years
pic from 1994? 95?
owned since 93
That rust on demand thing is called patina now. Read somewhere, probably here, about some paint and oxidizer to mimic it .................... there's nothing like real rust though.
1. Bought my 1972 FJ55 in 1991 while in grad school in Colorado; I still own it.
2. Bought my 1997 FZJ80 new; that's still my daily driver -- it's been all over the world.
3. Bought my gorgeous red FJ40 in 2006 in El Salvador.
4. Bought my big red HJ45 in 2007 in El Salvador.
5. Bought my (first) 1958 FJ25 (dark blue) in 2007 in El Salvador.
6. Bought my (second) 1958 FJ25 (light blue; split windshield) in 2007 in El Salvador.
Any pictures of your FJ25's?
Looks like you might have done a little work to it since you got it![]()
I purchased my 3/72 FJ40 brand new from the dealer. I got it right off the boat (they come in on the east coast here in Jacksonville, FL,) and it didn't even spend the night there before my girlfriend (now wife) and I picked it up. These shots, 40 years apart, are of the same cruiser and girl. I took the first photo the day we got it home. I figure if you've got something good you keep it and take good care of it and it will take care of you!
