All,

I have a Hannibal tent and when I take off the vinyl cover it hangs down. I'd like to be able to roll it up or clip it out of the way.

The way the tent is built - the cover is permanently attached to the floor of the tent . It does not have any straps or other mechanism to keep it rolled or tucked up when the tent it open

Has anybody else solved this issue?

The covers on Tepui tents have two Velcro straps riveted to the tent base that work with the external straps for the cover so it can be rolled up out of the way.

Here's a home-made approach ( I think) that is the same idea. The Tepui straps are larger/wider, but same idea.

My ARB cover doesn't quite reach the ground on my 80 with 2" lift, but I do need to hold it out of the way of the rear side door. I use a simple bungee cord. At first I hooked it right to the rack going around the cover and back again to the rack, which pulls it rearward and up, away from the door. Now I put two eye bolts on the rack where I need them and hook to that. I can't imagine that pulling it up a little would be that different. Let us know how you do it.

appreciate the feed back.

my cover is made out of a pvc vinyl and its become somewhat stiff from uv. I've contacted Hannibal to see if I can get a replacement but no response yet. A local boat top maker thinks she can build a replacement for me and if I have to go that way I'm considering having it become completely unzippable.

How does your cover attach? Does it have a channel on one side and zippers around the 3 other sides like a lot of other tents? I ask because maybe the size is close enough that you could use a replacement cover from another brand. I can get you a Tepui replacement cover, and replacement zipper too if the tent side of the zipper didn't match the new cover. LMK.

Hi Adam,

Its attached to the bottom of the floor on all four sides. No channel - It wraps.

The tent is bolted onto my m101 with lid and I can's see the details on how it fastens but I'm assuming mechanical with screws. I'll look at the tepui as an option for sure

Do me a favor, just try pulling, or sliding, the open cover to the left to see if it slides at all. I didn't think mine attached that way and for the first two trips I drove around with the hinged side not attached to anything LOL because there's no zipper there. (My tent came with the cover separate) I knew it couldn't be right but hadn't figured things out yet. So just see if it slides while it's open and hanging down. You might be surprised. :meh:

You can't slide the cover off the Hannibal tent. As gofast says it is fixed to the base.

I never came up with a satisfactory way of stowing the cover - I just roll it as best as I can and it sits on the two brackets that carry the awning on the other side of my Cruiser. When it rains it fills up with water. Baled that out a few times in the morning. Just got to hope the sun shows up when you pitch later and dries it out!

Will be ordering a new cover this week from Hannibal. I'm going to have my local awning/boat top business install a zipper in it so that I can remove it when i want to.

Nice set up Tasmanic
