suppose just changing out floormats or cleaning them often is the only thing you can do. Diesel fuel accumulation on the floor seems come with the deal.

Husky floormats here, occasionally wipe any dirt, diesel, etc. off of them. Mostly like them for containing snowmelt, sand, mud, etc. Never really thought about diesel being a problem. Plenty of impermeable solutions out there.

I fitted molded vinyl floor mats over the carpet on my 70 series. There easy to pull and wash and collect everything that's walked in. There thick and have Velcro backing that sticks to the carpet.
I'm very happy with them there made by trufit on a spin off ebay name.

yeah you can't let them get too saturated. I think I had the type that looked like carpet on top and was vinyl underneath....so it WAS impermeable, But it could get a little more saturated without you noticing it than a plain piece of vinyl would. I would sometimes step out and slip a little f I had oil on my shoes or boots. No big deal....as long as your not clumsy

carpet in a big offroader is kinda weird... first thing I did when I got my truck was get rubber floor mats for all foot areas and the rear cargo area. Now the carpet just does what carpet does best - which is absorb sound...instead of mud, diesel and snow.

yep...agree. I use mats too for sure. I have been looking at pump areas and they are not messy like they were 25 years ago. I think I filled up at a messy truck stop recently, tracked some fuel in and triggered old memories. One of my buddies was pointing that out also.....
Nevermind......thanks for the input.
