This car is treating me like my wife in the morning. Every time I go near it the alarm goes off! I push the button, the alarm goes off. I don't push the button, the alarm goes off. I use the key, the alarm goes off. I look at it with a little sparkle in my eye and the alarm goes off. I can't find anything in the owners manual. Eventually by randomly pushing buttons on the Toyota key fob I can get it to stop,

A little help?

(*Note: my autocorrect changed "alarm" to "Asian" throughout that post. It was a lot funnier before I corrected it.)

If it's a "factory" alarm, meaning a port installed model, the controller is under the driver's seat. I think you can unplug it from there. I have it on my '94; so if that doesn't work, let me know and I'll troubleshoot from my end. Your fob battery may be low.

Unless someone else beats me to the right answer.

Yes, port installed, sorry. I'd like to learn how to use it instead of just uninstall it.

Thanks! I'll check these out.

I just LOL'd to your thread! I just bought a '91 and if you stare at her wrong the alarm goes off! If you use the key to unlock the door she won't start and when you pull the key out of the ignition the alarm goes off. I have to walk away for a half hour before I can start her. Sometime if you yell next to it she will give you warning beeps. I wouldn't have a problem with the alarm system if it wasn't for the fact I can't use the key to unlock the door. What happens if I lose the fob or the battery runs out when I'm on an adventure? I put brand new batteries in too. I might have to disable it. Let me know if you find the answer to disable or maybe I need to go to someone that installs alarms?

I wouldn't even bother with trying to keep it. That was the first "mod" I did on my 93. Fortunately I couldn't afford the alarm when I ordered my 92!

The great @LS1FJ40 had spoken! It's coming out. You don't question a man that has owned 16 LC's.

Wondered about this too. Actually ended up unplugging my horns. Guess I am taking the alarm out. I miss my horns... I use them frequently. People in Utah are some of the worst drivers in the country. I miss California....

The EWD that is referenced a couple posts in should help eliminate the alarm and let you keep the horn. I live in Utah and I agree. I've driven in all but 8 of the state in the US. I've been on the roads in 8 other countries. Utah drivers are terrible.

19. :flipoff2:

But seriously, the alarms are a known electrical nightmare. I eliminated mine because it was annoying. It "armed" every time the door shut. Plus there are instances where it left someone stranded because of the kill switch portion. Just not worth it to me.

Alright, I'm finally getting to this and I'm not finding the love on IH8MUD or from the downloaded EWD's linked. My connector isn't the same as what I'm finding there and the threads I'm finding are just about replacement, not ripping the bloody thing out altogether. I did find the "Glass breakage sensitivity" adjuster and adjusted it to minimum. Maybe that will reduce the number of false alarms.

Any tips? Links to "Rip it out" threads for a 92?

And, yes, now that I've had the seat up and see the crap under there, I'm pulling ALL the seats and vaccuuming the heck out of this thing!! Yuck!

Take off your door trim to access the kick panel. Unplug alarm. Lift up carpet and push wiring back towards kick panel. Find where it ties in to wiring harness. Unplug. The splice and plug the factory harness back together. Put sh!t back together.

I unplugged it under the seat and the ignition is disabled. I'll take it back father and see what happens.

I'm sorry to derail this but is this also for the Executive electronics alarm on many 98's?

The thing is pissing me off.

You can't just unplug it because you are interrupting the starting circuit. You have to see where it is spliced in to the wiring harness.

Basically it is a plug that unplugs and this plugs inline. It's in the driver's side kick panel.

Trace the wires from the alarm back to the kick panel and it will be blantantly obvious.

Don't know about that. Only one way to find out...

Generally this is how all alarms work though. Find the box. Trace the wiring back to the factory harness. See what's up.

Thanks LS1. I'll give it another go.
