About 6 weeks ago, I bought two from Johnson City Toyota in TN, which is local to me. They took a week to come in. Do you know why your dealer is canceling?
No answer was given. I reached out and, after holding for 5 minutes, lost interest.

my theory is that the top skin is affected by the sun over the years 'bowing' it slightly away from the ribs underneath (expansion)
i could be wrong, i often am
There's no way that the sheet metal is affected by the sun. An engine fire, maybe. Or if you removed your headers and vented the exhaust directly into the engine compartment.

:meh:

I have run without the hood liner here in Phoenix for about 7-8 years. Did not notice any increase in noise, but I run big noise tires and exhaust I can hear. The original 045 white paint is still looking real good.

For your reference, here are some pictures of a new hood. You can see the seam sealer from the factory and how on some seams it protrudes and on others it doesn’t. All the seams have it and feels solid, but it appears like it needs more in some spaces. I plan to give it the old 3M treatment before paint and install.

This is perfect! i need to seam seal my hood skin back to the ribs and was concerned with the slight gap.

It was about $160 IIRC. Amayama has it for about $70 + $40 shipping, which is still a deal. But last I tried they were not able to ship right now.
Who is IIRC? I looked up Amayama online and I searched for my FJ 80 engine hood cover on their website.
At first it said it was gonna be $656 with shipping
And then I refresh the page and looked again, and it said they would ship it for $122 total with everything.
That was strange
The first time I looked at their website and put it in the cart it said it was $60.70, with like $565 shipping
But then when I refresh the page, I got the lower price. Funny website. Hmmm
It would ship from Japan with DHL total $122

I've read the reviews on those cheap ones from China that they say are made from "cotton" a lot of negative reviews, (on Amazon) a lot of people saying they don't fit

IIRC - if I recall correctly

I just ordered the hood insulation from my local dealer and picked it up two days later… not sure it is that complicated. No shipping cost of course.

Mine was falling apart too and decided to go with Dynaliner hoodliner. It was big enough to cover the same footprint as the factory one, and even though it has an adhesive back, i added the little black OEM clips to make it more secure.

Does it help with sound? Maybe, but nothing to write home about. I put some seam sealer and second skin damplifier on the underside, and that helps with the "claaaaang" when it closes; now it has more of a thud.

I have the same. Stuff from Amazon. It’s adhesive right? I just both don’t want to remove the hood and don’t have a lot of help to do so. This leaves me with stabbing for the retainers. Any ideas?

Because you’re a real man. Hope you do t have airbags. The cuck pillows of weak drivers. Die like a man 👍

So I got this adhesive stuff but as it’s just me, I didn’t want to remove the hood so I cleaned everything well, measured and went for it. The adhesive is very good. For Amazon, I bought the 5 star stuff and I think it ran about $80 or so a roll. I did put one clip in so far and will add a few more but this is it for a start.
