Slee did good. But I like dissent's low profile bumper better. Looking forward to more details on the sliders, frame mounted with the AHC would be a big plus over dissent's.

So far, Dissent's bumper + Slee's sliders (if confirmed they are frame-mounted).

I was chatting with Slee at Overland Expo (Amory and Christo) and I looked all around their Honey Badger build.

-Sliders are frame-mounted. In fact, they did something pretty cool where they built effectively a steel sleeve that goes over the main frame rail, and they built their sliders to come off of that. Very stout, as is typical of Slee. They look great. They are almost ready for prime time, they are just working on covers to go over the AHC components.
-The bumper they showcased is aluminum or almost entirely aluminum. They had their prototype, unpainted center piece out for display and it must weigh like 8 pounds. They incorporated some great recovery points designed for soft shackles and the clearance gained by their bumper is significant. The fact that you don't take any payload hit with their bumper is a great selling point.
-They had TOYO 35s on it and wheels with a +25mm offset (so just a bit negative offset relative to OEM wheels which I believe are +58mm) and it seemed to be enough to clear everywhere with those tires. I didn't see any signs of rubbing on their swaybar. They had the front mudflaps removed.
-They don't have pricing dialed on the front bumper yet, it will depend on demand of course, and also what the custmer wants to include (winch, lights, etc.) I'm hearing $3500-$4500 likely.
-In typical Slee fashion, they were able to include all OEM functionality on their bumper, from proximity sensors to cornering lights.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the Dissent low profile bumper, but the fact that they won't ship it ruins it for this Florida boy. Makes no sense either, since it looks like it's below all the factory sensors... I don't understand why they only want to sell it to thsoe willing to send their vehicle to Cali...

I mean spending $3k in round trip shipping to get a low profile bumper installed?

I don't think Dissent is hurting for business. And if I sent it to them for the low profile front, I'd also get the rear bumper, sliders, roof rack, lights, etc.

I'd say they have a good business model, looks a lot like Icon4x4's FJ restoration.

Yes, back in January I was talking to them, for what your wanting was around $30k, plus another $3600 in shipping the vehicle…so, essentially $34k.

I am waiting for final pricing on the Slee gear to really make a decision. If I can bolt on frame mounted sliders, I am going that route. I don't trust body mounted sliders at all.

I too really like Dissents low profile bumper, but their "We only install it." Busines model is challenging. I got quoted 20k for front, rear, and sliders installed. Thats some hefty change for some armor. 3k plus 2k for install on sliders is wild to me. But the front bumper is gorgeous.

Can confirm the Slee sliders are indeed frame mounted.

I also saw the Slee sliders at Expo Mountain West about 2 weeks ago and spoke with Christo Slee directly. He personally walked me over and had me crawl under the LX to confirm they are indeed frame mounted. 100%

I can confirm as well… they got a couple of badass 250s in the show room too

thanks for the kind words on the front bumper. It is also worth noting we offer a higher clearance one as well. As for the sliders. I would agree, typically body mounted and slider shouldn’t be used in the same sentence and we need to do a better job of showing you all how we achieved this. That being said there are some major benefits to our body mounted slider that are worth considering.
#1. Clearance. Because we are mounted directly to the body we were able to raise the slider up about 2-2.5” higher than a typical frame mounted slider.
#2. No need to fuss with all the factory ahc globes and bolts. If you have done this you know how much of a pain this can be.
#3. Rigidity, because we attach to the rocker and pinch weld we actually see a more rigid slider. Less deflection when under load.
We achieve this by not only mounting to the factory bolts but also all the way across the full length of the pinch weld. The pinch weld itself is actually quite strong and we utilize its strength strategically to work together with the slider body to form a super strong and rigid slider. Ours is a tested slider that will support the full weight of the vehicle. Here is a photo of me lifting from the rear of the slider the full weight of the vehicle. It’s hard to tell in the photo but both front and rear tires are slightly off the ground. I would be happy to go into more details if you would like.

I appreciate the feedback and I’ll explain why we do not currently ship.
The main reason is installation. This is a very complicated installation with a lot of tech. Almost every installation we do we run into something different. We are extremely picky with how our products are installed and represented and we are not confident there are many shops capable of installing these items to our own or our customers standards. It’s just not worth it to us at this stage.
While the low pro are easier they are by no means easy. Hope that makes sense.
