Thought I would share a photo of my 36" LED light bar, I installed. I purchased it from vison X. I will try to post another picture of it at night soon so you can see just how bright it truly is.. Makes the trail look like it's daylight.

It wouldn't last very long up here. We run some seriously brushy trails. ;)

On Jav's desert racing S-10 we built the above cab light bar on pivots and used gas springs to push the bar forwards into place. When it hits a branch it just folds back and once clear the gas springs push it back in place. Then there's a latch that holds the light bar fully back where it's slightly less than flush to the top of the cab for running during the day and not exposing the lights to thrown rocks. It's a some-what common thing to see on desert racers and easy to do on a pick-up body or a buggy. Not so easy on SUV type bodies.

That is cool. Can't wait to see it in action in a couple weeks! :D

That's a cool idea!!!

I was looking at some to light up the rear of the truck, but definitely pricey$$$. look forward to seeing the night shots

I don't have a night Pic of it yet but will after the Rauch Creek Run. I do however have a pic of it lit up during daylight you can still see how bright it is. But for some reason I cant upload the pic right now. I will try a little later. And we plan on building an airdam for it just havent had the time too. This was just a quick set up so we could do a night run. The case itself is made out of billet alluminum, so it will take a beating. This particular light bar is made by Vison X, and you have to find a dealer to purchace the one we have. We got our's from Mcneal Industries. And I got a little confused about the size and posted it was a 32" after I originally said it was a 36" checked my email with the paper work from purchace and it is a 36"!!. The largest they make is a 42", maybe santa clause will be nice to us this year or next and we can get the 42" one. The 36" =10,000 Lumens the 42" = 14,400 Lumens (anti collison lights on aircraft are 14,400 Lumens. Pretty damn bright. We paid $1300 for it begining of this year. And its worth every penny!!!

I'd be interested in hearing more about the pattern your light casts, how far reaching the light is and what temp the bulbs are operating at.

Here is a link to Matt MacNeil the man we purchased these lights from. He is a really nice guy and I am sure he will be willing to send you out some info packets to you. He helped us out a lot. macneillindustries.com He also has some really good products there. I will get back to you spressomon about your questions. You see my husband was the one who purchased the lights really and he could answer some of your questions a little better than me. I as I like to put it, I estimate a lot.

The light out put is a good 100 yards. The guys driving behind me described my lights as a wall of light going thought the woods. They said their KC lights were more tunnel vision. I had stopped on the trail earlier that day and some Jeep guys were camped out on the trail. They came over and was checking out my lights. That night when I came through they new it was me way before I got to there camping spot.

There is no real running temp. on the lights because they are LED's. 60 LED's at 3 watts = 180 watts for an output.

I bought the LED's because I don't want to put another battery under my hood. But I plan on doing a mood to put a Optima deep cycle marine battery in place of the original, only slightly bigger than the origanal. That will give me plenty of room to put the aircompressor under the hood as well.

Umm, can you PM me your address so that I can check it out in person?

:hhmm:
