That is a bummer, sorry. BTW I have not received one solid confirmation yet so I may join you Sunday. Everyone seems to be talking about camping in Big Bear as if it's easy to find a spot in the middle of summer. That's never been my experience, enlighten me please?

Looks like I will be joining Ruffy, can't get up there that early Saturday.

I was just up there last weekend and ran holcomb. Hanna flats was open but was booked full 6 months ago, it was the weekend of the 4th though. I was going to try crab flats or somewhere else but gave up and went home because there we too many people up there.

It would be cool to camp Saturday night and run the trails on Sunday. I had some exhaust and rear bumper mods performed by a few of the rocks up there free of charge so I would like to return and thank them. Might as well see if they can tear the thing completely off and be "forced" to buy a new one. Why take it off myself if the rocks are willing and able to do it for me.

I bet this trail was spectacular before the fire.

9:30 at the trail head is too early. ;) Oh well Sunday will likely be less crowded anyway. Have a great time.

Yep, that's always been my experience in the summer, everything is booked and full including the yellow posts. Good work on the mods, I hope you get them finished up this weekend. ;) Nice pic of the trail too, Holcomb was and hopefully still is a beautiful trail especially in Spring when there is some mositure in the ground and water in the creek.

I'll check this thread tonight and post up again if there is any response, otherwise anyone up for the run feel free to give me a call at 949 235-1494

We have 4 rigs confirmed for Saturday and I have a ride along who wants to spare the carnage on his new to him 4Runner. :D

I just gotta a PM from cruiserruf so he knows I am committed to Saturday. Have a good time on Sunday. :)

Hi fellas. Looks like I'm gonna spend some time in San Diego with the family on Saturday. Tare and Scott. Thank you so much for the invitation to ride along. I'm thinking of cruising by SCLCs meeting at Bolsa Chica on Sunday. I may meet some of you guys there for the first time.

Had a blast yesterday. Thanks Scott. Gold Mtn, John Bull, and Holcomb Creek were all excellently rocky.

I couldnt take any pics so post up what youve got.

Good times, thanks for the great spotting. 4 rigs, no scardy cats and little traffic on the trail makes for an epic day! Will post up some pics and vids tonight. Got a great one of you about 4 feet in the air on JB.

We started at the base of Gold Mt. at about 9:15 AM and finished Holcomb at around 7 PM.
The group consisted of my 80 on 34's , one FJCruiser on 34's, one on 33's and a mild Taco on 33's. Some winching was required on John Bull for the FJC's and the Taco.

All in all it was a good time. The weather was fantastic.

 Not for the faint of heart.

Looking forward to the pics. How did the new Holcomb Creek compare to the old (pre-fire)?

I was guessing you guys wouldn't finnish till 6:00. That's a long, hard day of wheelin. I once read an article on wheelin in Moab, where the writer described it as "mainlining addrenalin while going 1 mile an hour". Can't wait to see the pics and video.

You passed my group when you were coming out of Gold Mtn.

I went Sunday with cruiserruf, SDTLC80, and TJ. Kick ass time. Thanks for leading cruiserruf!

So one thing I took back from the trip is regearing is mandatory if you run 37's. I had the truck floored on 3-4 occasions and I could not spin a tire or move forward.... Getting 5.29's next week at yotamasters. Another take back is 1" spacers work well with the FJ cruiser rims and 37x12.5 km2s. I had the 1.5 inch before and that was too much. Anyone want my 1.5" spacers?

I'll be up in big bear Aug 25-28 camping so will be hitting these trails again then.
