How long did it take you guys to run all three trails?
Not for the faint of heart.
Looking forward to the pics. How did the new Holcomb Creek compare to the old (pre-fire)?
I was guessing you guys wouldn't finnish till 6:00. That's a long, hard day of wheelin. I once read an article on wheelin in Moab, where the writer described it as "mainlining addrenalin while going 1 mile an hour". Can't wait to see the pics and video.
A long day of wheeling that felt really short. We had a small and agrressive group and we ran into only one or two small groups on each trail, two of which were friends. The first group of Jeepers on Gold let us pass, the Demello crew with their "Super Rigs: just disappeared after the gatekeeper. We held up another group on JB until we cleared our rigs and let them pass. Holcomb is a dichotomy of sorts right now with much of the old forest burned but lots of new wildflowers and brush filling in. The old forest feel is gone and in some spots it does feel as if the place was freshly clear cut. The trail was just as difficult as it was in the past or even more so due to some mini rock gardens that have been added to stop erosion in several spots. The main rock gardens have not changed much. It was so mellow out there I let my rookie passenger drive the complete 1st rock garden under John's stellar spotting skills. Took him a good 45 minutes but it was an education for sure. Over all this was my best experience ever wheeling in Big Bear; good group of guys, great trails, really good weather and a very empty feel out on the trail.
