Greets all - There are so many headlight conversion kits out there for the 75-series that we are considering just upgrading the loom and getting the correct voltage to the lamps.

Anyone done an HID conversion and happy with the results? Any comments, of course, will be appreciated.

Just need these middle-aged eyes to be able to see the road at night so...

Cheers,
~R

Hi

Yes I have done the conversion , they are great but be warned they are illegal and the cops will pull you over !!! I know first hand lol !

blinding the copper as I come over a hill ended up having me on the side of the road for nearly an hour as he went right over my cruiser ....... Defected me for a few things but let me off on others , turned out he owned a 80 series and I think he was keen on checking out the mods I'd done to my truck !

Any way the lights had to go , at the time I fitted 6000s , they were stupid bright, purple!! I'm thinking of going for the 4300 , my brother has them fitted and they are not as bright, nice white light !

I miss my HIDs bad !

Cheers

i have upgraded my loom on KC headlight replacements with 24v 130w/90w Hella bulbs... still not happy with it especially in the rain / not even close to HID.

had to add 7 inch IPFs... then i was happy

still want HIDs but waiting for proper technology, or LEDs with acceptable price.

Cheers gents - Looks like we have made the executive decision to upgrade the loom and get the correct voltage at the lamps.

Certainly don't like HIDs in my face from the other side of the road... nor do we need to have a chat with the folks in blue any more often than is necessary.

Just got these... way better than the KC's
No diffuser
I hope it's legal where you're at

wow! how much are those?

$230-240USD a piece on some online vendors last time I checked.

For less than the cost of one lamp assembly you can get a set of Roundeyes conversion headlamps and a pair of the IPF H4 Super Fat Boy bulbs:meh:

That being said, they do look cool though:cheers:

that's an option .. that's for sure .. and I used to have hella lamp assembly with 100/90 bulbs .. from Bosh.

This light it's so clear and with small draw ( which it's the important part to me ) compared to 30 amps plus of the setup you mention .. that I was sold ..

I have the Hellas on my troopie right now, they work fine and had the Roundeyes on my 40.

I am taking a good look at the ones you have, as I said above, they do look very cool. Thanks for posting those up.;)

wow, that's just what I've been looking for in terms of quality/amperage. I've researched them a bit and am about to purchase, but I have a few questions you might be able to help me with.

I can't find any info on their precise colour... are they slightly bluish or more around the desirable 4300K mark?

i imagine they light up short distances well with a good spread, but how are they on high beam? do you think you could possibly do away with spotties (I'm not a racer!) or are driving lights still required for decent long-distance throw?

also, did you have to modify anything to fit them or did they slip right into the OE mounts?

Could you get them locally in Panama, or can you recommend an international shipper? I'm in Peru and the best price I found for 2 was $475 shipping included.

Cheers,

I also have a set of Warn SDB210 and did not use on my last night trip .. that's only my opinion, but you probably would like to use a set of long distance lights ..

Nop ..
