1980 TOYOTA LANDCRUISER TROOPCARRIER HJ45
Toyota H Diesel Six Cylinder
Four Wheel Drive
Four Speed Manual Transmission
Heavy Duty PTO Winch
Air Condition
Manual Steering
Power Brakes
This Troopie is in beautiful condition and has been just painted the original color of Dune Beige. It came straight out of the dry desert and is one of the best examples of a rust free Troopie Ive ever seen. It has the original Toyota H six cylinder engine. I dont know the true mileage on the engine because the odometer says 88K KMs on a 5 digit odometer. The farmer I bought it from only used it for short distances and owned it for over 10 years. It has a heavy duty PTO winch that I believe to be original equipment. After market air condition has been added which is a great feature. All the gauges, lights, speedometer, wipers, etc work properly. It has power brakes and manual steering. Some other things included are tow hitch, snorkel with washable air filter, brand new heavy duty battery, fiberglass roof, extra fuel tanks, and a water tank. It also has a "diff locker" switch but I need to investigate it further to see if it actually has the locker. I also have a set of original Toyota split rims painted gray in "like new" condition with the skinny tires if the buyer would prefer those instead of the white steel wheels and tires that are on the truck in the photos. Overall this truck is in EXCELLENT condition.
Things needed or considerations...The weatherstripping was removed for the paint job so it needs a new weatherstrip kit. The glow plugs are there but need to be hooked up to a switch. The truck starts up fine without them but Id recommend hooking them up because thats the proper way. It does not have rear seats. I get asked about this a lot and the original seats are the troopcarrier bench seats that fold up on the sides. They are like the FJ40 rear seats but longer. Over the years Ive seen lots of different rear seats in these trucks. You can easily put in forward facing seats, or put in the FJ40 jump seats or if you really want I could try and find you a set of the correct troopcarrier seats separately after the sale. These trucks were made to go slow and steady straight up a mountain or through a river and to be very easy to work on. They were not made to go 80mph down the freeway or to handle like a race car. If you want those qualities then Id recommend buying a 2010 FJ. But if you want the most stylish/durable 4x4 truck around to drive to your Landcruiser club meeting, or have people wave and stare as you go by and get asked at every gas station what kind of truck it is then Id say buy a HJ45 Troopcarrier.
The truck will be sold with current California registration, California license plates and a clean California title. It DOES NOT need to be smogged because it is a 1980 diesel. The truck is right hand drive which is completely legal and very easy to get used to. I have no problem with the buyer inspecting the truck inside and out as well as bringing it to a mechanic. It is located in sunny San Diego and the asking price is 16500$ but I am open to reasonable cash offers. PLEASE EMAIL ME DIRECTLY AT richardshep@hotmail.com if you are seriously interested in this truck and if youd like to discuss it further I will send you my phone number. Thanks Rich
