Oh, yeah, I'm supposed to re-torque the exhaust manifold bolts after initial start-up. Tommorrow, I'll get er done!
Hopefully..

Do you have a hitch on the back of your Troopy? If you don't have any hills you can hook up a loaded trailer to put some load on the engine. It's still not as good as a steady grade for tuning your fuel screw.

I do have a hitch. If I let the RPMs get up around 2400, the boost guage and EGT gauge go up to near proper levels. But I'm seeing 4 or 5 psi at 2000 RPMs. That's damn near full throtle and when you would normally change gears. Shouldn't I get the 8-9 PSI boost before 2300 RPMs?

I changed my picture, don't be confused, the black hood looked not right.

Thanks for the review on the TinyTac, I already found the website, but there's nothing like first-hand experience.

Just a little note on turboing the 2H: It's been done alot here, at one time the HJ60 was among the most popular 4x4 here... But we never got the bolt-on kits so people experimented themselves with Nissan turbos, Volvo truck turbos etc etc. Nobody here ever heard of a pyro, so it was just a matter of turning the fuel up untill the smoke became too much. Nevertheless there were great results and I have seen 2H engines dynoed to more than 200 hp.
Of course there were victims, cracked heads and even bent push rods (go figure??) But I have yet to see one that burned the valves...
My point is IMO a pyro is good, but there is no reason to fear the EGT's so much, it's a sturdy engine and I would be a lot more scared of the cracks between the valves and the precups that eventually will form... And no pyro can prevent that.

Turn it up untill you get the same result a a B52 taking off, and see if that doesn't feel better (watching your EGT's of course) Then turn it back down 'till it's an acceptible compromise between smoke at full load and power.

OK, I'll try more fuel, because I'm not seeing an increase in smoke yet.

as I said .. more and more fuel ! I don't think a brand new Turbo Glide kit will come out of wastegate adjust .. ( but can happen certanly ).

I added another 1/2 turn on the fuel screw and I think I'm about there. It feels pretty close to the recommended 30% increase in power. After I get the exhaust done this week I'll decide if I want to add even more fuel. I should have the snorkle this week as well. I bent the prop rod so that it doesn't hit the Air cleaner when I close the hood. TurboGlide showed a picture of this modification, so I knew before hand not to slam the hood down until I did this.

Does anyone re-attach the wire to the fuel screw? I know it's purpose is to keep it from vibrating loose and un-adjusting the fuel setting. But, like a few other Land Cruiser aspects, it seems to be overkill, since you have that lock nut there.

Actually the purpose of wiring and lead sealing the fuel screw is to tell if it's been tampered with, you don't need to worry too hard about it.

I understand. I don't need to put a wire back in the screw.

2 1/2" or 3" inch exhaust?

I'm about to get the exhaust done and everyone has a different oppinion on exhaust size after the turbo install. Will 3 " be crazy loud without a muffler? turboglide suggest 2 1/2 " with or without a (free-flowing) muffler.

I have heard that the 3 inch system results in a bit less torque, but I'm not 100% on that. IMO a 2.5 inch mandrel bent system is plenty, you'll still be able to have a good sound.

2 1/2 " is probably the way I'll go, no muffler innitially. If it's too loud, i'll stick a free-flow muffler on it.

2.5" it's just right if you don't want to go around town activating car alarms .. you can ear my 2.5" straight mandrell in my youtube videos to make yourself an idea ono how it will sound ..

I watched your Youtube video, thanks. What ever happened your original truck, I watched the videos but didn't see where you may have had a brake failure and crash?

I rolled my Tencha in our volcano trip .. back then in 2006 smash a rear right steel braided brake line, loose my t-case and .....

Sorry to hear you rolled it

You did the convertible thing to it after that?

Well if you pay atention to the pic .. you will see that I had a rust in roof problem .. was a long fight and that was a good excuse to shop it ..

I like that truck. What type and size are your wheels and tires. I need to get them soon.
