Christmas greetings from the 40 world. Thinking of a hitch project for my 43, and came across this 100 series mount. 51990-60010.

Would any of you be so kind as to pull some measurements center to center vertically and side to side for the 4 bolts? Wondering if the spacing is the same as on the rear frame of the 40s.

Obviously, the real issue is the 2.5" square hole I'd need to hog out of the rear crossmember, but I'll worry about that later.

Thank you,
Matt

That's interesting; mine is welded onto the frame. Same (looking) part, but no mounting holes.

FWIW, I checked my 40 and 80 frames; the pattern is the same: 45x85 (nominal). Mine actually measured 44x86, but I measured the through holes and didn't bother to put a centering pin in the threaded holes). I'd bet they are the same.

Merry Christmas.

That receiver is specifically for 03-05 LX’s, the bolt pattern is much larger than the pintle pattern found on everything else.

How much larger?

Thanks! Mine measured the same, 45x85mm more or less.

That's a pretty spendy part, but it is Toyota, so there's that. According to the EPC, it's listed for 100 series, from 2002-2007, not just Lexus, so I don't see how that pattern would be different. Lexus lists it for LX470s from 2003-2006, but that doesn't mean it wasn't offered as a Toyota part.

It's hard to believe Toyota would pattern frames differently just for that part. Not impossible, but...if it was $50, I'd say try it, but for $200+, IDK.

That’s my beef for sure. If cheaper, I’d just buy it and go for it. There seem to be knock offs for $90ish on eBay, still not worth the gamble. I do often see an LX470 parked down the street, might just take a stroll and see if I can catch it and hope it’s an early one.

The 43 rear frame has an extra crossmember and more bracing than a 40, and it seems like bolting one of these right onto the rear frame and adding some more steel to tie it back further would get me a pretty strong tow hitch and let me keep the stock rear step.

I’ll hold out for someone with one in hand to chime in, or I’ll just put my shoes on.

For sure the 1st gen 100s & Lexi have welded hitches, so look for a later model.
