Does any manufcatuer make hi-steer arms specifically for the FJ55? Before you flame, let me explain. I want Ackerman steering but I have SMALL pattern knuckles. Since ackerman geometry is a function of wheel base as well as axle width, FJ40 hi-steer arms do not have the correct geometry and FJ60/62 arms are all large pattern knuckles. I have looked, I have searched, and I just can't find them. If I only had my own CNC...

Did you call Luke at 4x4 lab?

(Luke knows Pigs, Luke knows Ackerman angle, Luke makes small pattern arms))

4x4 Labs

Luke has small pattern arms. That is what I put on my Pig, although I have larger knuckles now :grinpimp:

If you already have disks I would find a pair of large pattern knuckles (same as mini trucks) and swap them at the same time as the high steer. Everything else will swap directly from the small knuckles to the large ones. That gives you a larger selection of High steer arms and stronger knuckles that you want with high steer anyway.

I used small pattern knuckles from a 78' FJ40.

So did I when i did my disk swap to begin with. When I went to high steer I swaped to mini truck knuckles at the same time. I know you have to pull everything apart to swap knuckles but it will be well worth it the first time you break a knuckle stud (which WILL happen with small pattern knuckles and highsrteer). At that piont you will probably have to replace the knuckles anyway and will already be stuck w/ small pattern arms.

Everything (spindle, berings, rotors, calipers, seals) that you already have except for the circled knuckle will swap directly to the new knuckles. You will need 2 FJ60-62-mini knuckles and 2 bottom caps to match.

I paid $100 for 2 mini knuckles.

The steering arm in this picture is bent which I highly discourage unless you are a metalergist.

I assumed they would be one-off arms and they would charge me way way more... I'll find out for sure...

I think all his arms are made specifically for your application. When I ordered mine, he had questions about track width, wheelbase, steering box, etc. I think his arms are more or less "custom made" for your application, all at the same cost.

yep. i had to answer which springs, type of lift, vehicle, approx wheelbase, type of steering, because there are different options in the shape, lift, taper etc of the arm.
