Hi everyone.
I am Willem from the South parts of The Netherlands.
Bought a Hj60 from 1981 with a 12ht motor in it. I drove a half year approx 3 times a week with no problems.

After some time there was some surface rust at the know places so I thought to fix that quick with some sanding and painting. I could not be more wrong. After the sanding more and more holes came to light.
So now I am in a full restoration project. I found myself a welder and were currently working on bringing some fresh new metal to all the well know rusted places.
I missed this all when I bought the car. Everything was fixed very primitive and covered up with lots of kit, and body filler. But yeah be positive. At least I know now what I am getting ;).

Hi, did you install that snorkel yourself? I bought a same snorkel and don't have the template. Do you have the template by any chance?

As deep as you are going here, it might be worthwhile to lift the body off the frame. It seems like that would allow easier access and a good look at the condition of the frame

Sweet truck! don't forget to turbo her.

When I restored my 60, ten years ago I was shocked how much bare metal was found in seams and other non-painted areas. These trucks slight of being used in the middle east or africa were pretty much disposable bodies.
My 60, ten years after repairing it, now needs it again. Which I will do, but I no longer use my 60 in winter weather. Cause I want it to last.

oh whoops! I thought she was N/A. my bad

I dont have the template but i got the hole. Do you need photos of the hole?

That chassis needs work :worms:, for dutch roadcheck it needs to be welded with the same thickness material and not welded on but welded in (takes a lot of time to make perfect fitting patches, maybe the rules changed but I have cut out a lot of the chassis and maybe this year again)
good luck , Davaa I have snorkel stuff here: Snorkel - hj60.freeforums.org

Also find a nice whole in the rear axle seal. So a axle service is needed.

Next week I have a couple of free days so hope to get allot of work done!

Nice work, it will be a great rig! Keep the pictures coming.

Looks like a lot of work but with any luck, you'll only have to do it once and you'll learn a ton in the process. Keep it up and post tons of photos!

Still cleaning the rust and searching for a good sealant kit.

Next Problem to solve: This Fuel line bracket is very corrosive. It is not leaking, shall I replace/repair?
A new part is not available.

The broken one is #5 in my pictures here: Painting and Fueltank hoses connection picture - hj60.freeforums.org
But I don't know what it does, seems fuel filler return.
How is the other side of that bracket, what does it do with the connections?
Maybe take the correct fuel hose and flange connection and replace with home made?
I filled mine with truck fast filler :slap: and it was then leaking a bit, still a diesel smell so maybe mine is broken/crushed too.
To much work to take out again at the road check if it leaks a bit.
The engine gets fuel from the top tank hose, no return as in a hj61, so the hoses are for filler air return, and one U shaped hard line for rolling over.

I am reading that only the main tube (the biggest) is needed for a diesel tank. All the others are made for petrol (benzine) tanks which can create a vacuum in the tank itself. Check this post to:
Rusty Wagon Rebuild

What do you think?

I never took the plate out, what does it do on the other side?
Because there is a lot of air when filling up, without air escaping I would think filling takes longer but the filler tube is pretty wide.
The U shaped tube for rollover is not needed I think, the rest is not checked at APK roadcheck I think, so it seems ok to remove it.
When I removed the tank and saw 6 connections plus sensor wire I scared out
