PART II - BIOR Front Bumper, Rear Bumper and Slider Installation

After a couple of weeks of being away from home allot, I finally have some time to get my BIOR bumpers and sliders on, adjust my final ride height and get my final alignment done. Setting up the alignment after cranking the Tbars and before adding all this weight turned out to be a complete waste of time...don't do it!

Ok...so sliders first. I'm on my own today as most of my buddies who would help me are off pig hunting this weekend...so time to pull out the trolley jack and have at it...

Pretty much just follow Mikes instructions...front Ubolt first, rear second and middle last. Killer fit on these...like a glove! Only took me about 15 minutes aside to mount, adjust and tighten down. Don't forget to watch for the brake/ fuel lines and put some anti seize on the bolts. Easy peazy lemon squeezy

On to the front bumper. The removal of the factory bumper is easy, just remove the six 10m bolts that secure the plastic cover to expose the bumper itself, remove the foam, then undo the two 14m bolts per side that secure the metal bumper to the vertical mounts that you will be cutting off as per Mikes instructions. DONT try to use the cutting wheel to cut down the factory tack welds...make your cuts in front of the frame rail itself vertically.

Sliding the bumper on by yourself is not recommended, but I managed. Now for lining up the bottom capture nuts and doing the test fit...again, doing this alone is a little challenging...

Once you get the wings of the bumper clearanced against the body the way you want it, you have to mark where the new holes need to be drilled in the frame rails. This is where I ran into about an hour of dicking around I wasn't anticipating. The problem is that there are factory holes on both sides that are very close to lining up, but the don't. So drilling a new holes is not an option on some of them. I tried boring them out with a 5/8" bit, then a dremmel...all kinds of jerking about. Finally got them so the bolts would pass through level.

And BAM! The finished product. Tomorrow I'll get the rear bumper on in the morning, set the final ride height, then off to Les Schwab for alignment. I love the simplicity and quality of the BIOR stuff, but without the winch and tube bars it does look like a bit of a front porch. Kinda reminds me of those ridiculous OEM chrome winch bumpers Toyota put on the mid 80's 60 and 70 series:). Will be a good place to rest cocktails I suppose...bottom line, you can't beat the value for the dollar with Mikes stuff...I pretty much got the front bumper and sliders for the price of a loaded ARB.
