Jeff, Those are some scratched up legs.
Lee, I checked on Logger Kenny's progress this morning and he cut three trees that were already down. Basically, he pulled the easy stuff out. left the tops.
So, I say we postpone the coming weekend until Logger Kenny is done. What do you think?
Gary

Gary, I agree. Let's give Officer Rogers this week and next before planning another work weekend. I need to take care of some business in Oklahoma anyway, so holding off would be better for me.

So he cut up and removed some trees that were already on the ground? I thought he might have taken the logs that we already cut as well. Seems like they'd be easy pickin's. At least he did something, so I won't start complaining yet. And thanks again for staying on top of things.

So is this going on again this weekend?
Bodean,
The commander and I agree that we should let the logger do his thing and then we will schedule another work day.
Thanks for checking and stay tuned.
Gary

Gary, I have a kinda casual job interview today. In Austin, that means shorts and a T shirt. I looked at my legs yesterday, and started thinking pants. Unless I was interviewing to be a scratching post at the animal shelter, the ol' pegs are kind of a distraction at this point.

I could be wrong about ol' Kenny, (as I'm still kind of a go-go Yankee), but I think his progress is going to be very slow.

Wear shorts, then you got something real to talk about. That engineering stuff is boring!

I'm with Gary, wear the shorts. But finish off the outfit with your Rice University blazer, and an ascot.
That alone should get you a fat signing bonus. :grinpimp::beer:

I think they were looking for the leather elbow patches, and I left that one on the hanger. Damn!

Just to make sure it is clear with everyone.
There will not be a work day on Saturday August 9th.
We are going to let the logger get some of the trees out of the way. Eliminate the "widow makers" that were observed.
We will regroup and see how it goes after the logger is done.
Gary

Lee said he's coming this weekend. Are we working? I could do Saturday.

I haven't spoken to Gary this week, but I'm still assuming we'll be working at the Laurel plantation on Saturday, 23 August. I'll confirm and post an update here, as soon as I know for sure.

Heading for Mississippi this afternoon by way of Houston, driving the infamous William Gates/Parker Graves '75 40 or what's left of it. Hope to be back in the motherland by Thursday evening. Thought I should mention my ride, in case things go south and I'm never seen again.

I'll be working on clearing tornado debris at the old homestead on Saturday, either alone or with GT. Gary has another obligation and won't be able to help. If any of you guys get bored and are craving some dirty manual labor, by all means feel free to come on down. JT and Lash can explain the drill. They'll probably also say once was enough. :(

Onward through the fog,
Lee

What's the status on things after the logger and county debris crew came through?

Gary took a look at the property yesterday afternoon. Neither Jones County nor Mississippi Power has removed any of the debris that we piled by the highway. Gary called both yesterday to renew the request that they haul it away. He said MS power was sympathetic about removing the debris that they tossed in the driveway, and indicated they'd take care of their part. I don't think he was able to speak with the Jones County supervisor. He said the logger has removed a fair amount of the trees that were already on the ground, but still has a lot remaining. I didn't specifically ask, but I got the impression that he hasn't taken down any of the widow makers that he promised to remove. That guy is a Laurel police officer and does the logging and pulp wood business on the side, so I never expected to see a major improvement right away. That's all I know, but maybe Gary can add more information since he's seen it in person.

My main objective this weekend is to clear the junk from the area immediately around the house, most of which is overgrown shrubs and a few small trees. I also need to find a reliable contractor/roofer to repair the damaged roof, but I'll deal with that next week.

Lee are there tools you need that I can send down if I can't come?

weedeater
lawn mower
electric/hand sheers for bushes
saw

I know you were in the new-to-you 75 so didn't know what you might need.

I will be working that morning and its gonna be a gazillion degrees.

Does your FJ40 have AC? Holy **** it is hot.

NoSir, no AC in the ancient 40. Made it from Austin to Houston yesterday afternoon in 101 degree temp. About to head for Jackson within the hour. Weather along the way is supposed to be mild, only mid 90's. I'll try to drive on the shady side of the road.
