I'm trying to figure out what tranfer case I have. My trucks vin plate says May 1970. The PO had swapped engines to a 350 with a 700r trans. I'm wanting to replace the old dash and also to get the transfer shifter onto the floor instead of the dash. What I can tell this is earlier than a 1970? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks Tony

is there an issue with the transfer? you don't need the exact year to go to a floor shift setup. not sure what you'll do for the pivot location on the transmission.
your ebrake backing plate is on wrong, it should be rotated 180'

Nothing is wrong with the transfer other than it leaks and I want to get rid of all the vacuum lines and get the shifters on the floor and off the dash. The ebrake was set up this way when I took it off the truck. Everything worked and the lines seemed to be the right length when took it out. Would there have been a reason to have set it up this way?? Thanks for the heads up.

I didn't notice the first time, it looks like a non OEM cable.
55's have the ebrake cable on the pass side because of where it comes off the firewall, 40/45's are on the driver side because that is where they originate from.
not familiar with any of the auto swaps, other than the selector/actuator for the 2wd-4wd the linkage and pivot may need to be fabricated??

Noob question. If it is a 3 speed tcase, does that mean it has 2wd, 4hi and 4 lo?
