I think the '74-'75 had the 1.5F, the VIN sounds right, it isn't the traditional 17 number VIN, like most cars but it shouldn't be a problem to register it. I just went through the same thing with mine, the insurance company just wanted a copy of the title.

Year of the pig!!!! some date and ID tag info

I've owned a few 75 Piggies and every one had a 2F but I could imagine an early 75 (builddate late 74) could still have an F engine. I have a 74 here right now with an F (F155) engine and the four speed setup with three speed transfer case. All original. VIN for that one is FJ55046503. None of the 55's I own or have owned have more digits in their VIN than this one except for one listed below that I believe is a typo on the title.

I dug out one of my files with metal ID plates, here is the info from the 55 tags I have:

Vin FJ5556870 build date Nov 1975
Vin FJ5563627 no build date
Vin FJ5525307 build date Nov 1971
Vin FJ5532165 no build date
Vin FJ5556870 no build date
Vin FJ5558544 build date Jan 76

Titles:

Vin FJ55053735 listed as a 75 I think the "0" is there by mistake
Vin FJ5558544 listed as a 1976

My orange and white piggy (originally blue and white) is VIN FJ5595784

That's all I can find right now. Gary S

Cool info Gary,

I think that between 74 and 75, they had the 1F with the 2F head, at least thats what some of the smarter pig people then myself have told me.

I must have a very early '71 looking at your build date and VIN, mine is FJ5519911
