hey guys ive got a 88 runner that has a w56b tranny and one day i was driving home and all of a sudden it started slipping when i down shifted in to 4th gear to go a little quicker.
now i pulled the tranny off and the clutch is soaked in oil. doesnt appear to be leaking form the engine side of things. and seemed to be leaking from the transmission. but i have no clue what could be bad. the rear main seal appears to be good but ill be replacing it anyways. if anyone had run into this problem before please help me out. not a mechanic, but i know a thing or two. any help or questions are welcome.

thanks guys.

My buddies had the exact same issue. It was the shaft housing gasket that leaked out. Use a factory gasket with Toyota FIPG. That did the trick. Also let it cure overnight before startup

And if Marlin has a seal for that... use it. Just my opinion.

The last I checked he had one for the output, but not the input. I really wish he would make one for the front of the transmission.

Awesome thanks guys! That should do the trick! We shall see. Hopefully I don't have to take this thing out again.
