I am working on a deal for some larger parts from over seas. They will be crated and shipped to a port of my choosing. I am dumb to this, do I need a local shipping agent to receive them for me at the port? If the seller is handling shipping on his end what all is needed on my end? Any help is appreciated.

Not sure how that works to be honest...I'd reach out to posters who sometimes bring in similar parts or vehicles pretty often and ask them. You can try to pm guys like @joekatana @wardharris @SteveJackson @aljollano @Eco 45 or perhaps ask a retired former Toyota parts whisperer/guru...I'm sure some of these guys would know how that stuff might work.

Sooooo what are you planning to bring in?

If any of those fellas want to share a little information that would be amazing! Once I lock in my deal I’ll share!

Whatever shipper your seller uses to ship your parts will do all the customs stuff.

Tell him New Orleans and send it. Get out of the way.
That I can do....

Good Luck be ready for an ass whipping.........also make sure you have 100% of the paperwork done before that stuff hits the water or you are subject to fines....big $$$ fines.

After I brought in the Alucab stuff years ago it took way too much time and your customs broker will know they have you by the balls...

It is cheap to get here....then the money comes out when inspection fees for this.....open container fees.....other bs fees.

Have a fax machine close...

I wish you luck

Personally, I use the big companies (UPS, Fedex, DHL). Those companies handle all of the importation stuff. You will pay more of course, but the experience is seamless from beginning to end. You will need to fill out paperwork and other stuff but after that, they take care of the rest.

Fedex and DHL won't release your parts until duties/customs have been paid. So, you need to make sure you are ready to pay. They will also deliver to your door which is what I like. No having to deal with different entities for customs/duties and then figuring out how to get your stuff to your location.

Again, it will cost a lot more than going with some cheapo outfit, but the service is done well.

Thanks for the help fellas!!!
