Since I got my 60 back- I parked it and have been cleaning the frame and undercarriage. My first wipe with degreaser was like a drug- the frame was perfect. I have been spending the last 4 nights under the truck cleaning all of the grease and grime off. I was just going to treat with Amsoil Metal Protector, but it is so perfect I got eastwood chassis black and am going to tape off and paint this weekend. I will post before and after pictures. I also am treating the battery area where an old battery leaked and caused surface rust. I am painting that this evening. My question is , am I losing it and wasting my time?

Here is one frame shot so far

You my friend are a "Go Getter". That looks awesome. I dont think I would be able to do that. If it makes you happy then there is no "too far". There is no need for me to do it because it would be way out of character for my rig to have a clean uunderbelly and skin that looks like it got into a fight with a bucket full of hammers. I say keep it up, it looks great.

I have the same affliction. Every time I take something off my car that has the possability of being painted I do it. I went as far as repainting my readiator mounts when i took them out. It's my way of seeing the progress of going through and fixing the vehicle. Keep it up, we all have different levels of addiction to these beasts.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that suffers from this addiction...

I hit the wall

So I had enough of the crap getting in my eye, and it looks damn good under there. I started priming with rust encapsulator. It is coming out very nice. It was getting dark and was still wet when I took these pictures.

You are doing good. When you clean up and paint, you are getting a good look at any potential problems and as Barney says "Nip it at the bud". I recently finished doing the wheel wells with Herculiner...talk about a messy job.

You can do mine. Are you busy for the next...decade?

Look at a rusted our 60 and then a slightly rust 60. Focus on those areas first.

The frame looks nice but where they rust is between the rear cross suport and the actual frame. It is a "C" inside of a "C". It is around the spare tire area.

The next area would be around the rear wheel wells at the back bottom corner of the passenger doors.

The next area would be in the cargo area. Lower you tailgate and pull the carpet up and look in the righ hand corner of the bed. There is a seam there where it is assembled. That is the second place to rust.

I can post pics of these areas if you want.

I looked around the spare, I will check the other areas tonight. If it is clear of rust- do you think a shot of metal protector would give a good protection? If it is not too much trouble to post pics of the rear passenger and deck area I would appreciate it.
