There's an idea. Is he ready to go public? If he's in Spokane that's another nice drive about 200 miles.

I've been following your idle troubles, hope you get it sorted. I like having the OEM carb and the HAC so as long as it can be fixed I would try to, too.

I found that VDO makes a sender with a warning contact that could light an 'idiot light' at 230F. Thinking about putting one it at the unused bvsv spot. Whaddayathink?

The VDO could be a nice little addition but once things are working properly there really is no reason for it. As long as the t-stat, waterpump and fan clutch are working (and the last two most importantly) you should be good to go no matter what. And Jason is still in Wyoming, they are working things out for the house in WA from last I knew.

Since you are replacing the head I would DEFINITELY replace the waterpump and fan clutch with new OEM units (both should still be available, if not the OE Fan Clutch is the Aisin FCT-017 on Amazon). That is the route that I ended up going because there was no smoking gub for the HG going on mine and I did not know the age of my WP in the first place (though FC has been replace in 2014 by me).
