If you do it right and take care of the rust and paint it with the color in the top left of this picture you will add about 10k to the value to your cruiser.

:D

Just orderd a sample paint of the t333 to test spray.

After the test spray, I am taking every part of, and media blasting it, removing all rust.
Then spraying it tropical coral red with acrylic enamel :D

Super excited.
Going to have to comb the threads about tub removal tips, but the rest looks pretty straight foreword.

It looks like the toughest part is finding a paint supplier that can find the tropical Coral Red T333

Getting a lot of "that color does not exist / Not a valid color code" replies.
The paint shop supplier is doing some additional research I guess to try to track it down.

Who thought it would be so tough to get a color mixed with the manufacturers color code?

man.

Our paint shop couldn't find Dune Beige 416 with PPG but did with Nason's brand. Good luck.

I ordered some paint from these guys and recieved it in about 5 days:

Color Chip Selection

They do have Tropical Coral T-333.

I went with really close to factory color of Coronado Beige (T451) for my 1963 FST. It is a close match to the existing original paint. Go original. It will add character. What color top are you going with?

Thanks man.

Going with an Eshan OD green canvas top :)
It is on the way to the states as we speak.

:D

I just wish I knew a way to track down this color for my project.

nice!
Is that the mystery green?
Looks great!

I vote for the original color. Looks like you can get the color too.

Yeap, going to paint it the original tropical coral red :)

I need to start a new thread about de-rusting bolts for reassembly :)
Also about how to paint them, for example before assembly or after.
At least for the bolts that are the same color as the body parts.

Do you know off hand if the gas tank is supposed to be the same color as the body? I have seen so many variations... some pewter, some the same as the body color. It seems the trend for darker deeper colors to have pewter colored accessory bits?

This is my all time favorite color

But this is the colour of my 1979 BFJ40 - Kermit - Rustic Green 621
I like the greens, but am seriously considering painting my next rebuild in one of the Matt colors - maybe the dark silver like the ICON

Yep that the color green. That lit is from 61. Even less seems to be know about the colors for the first three years of the FJ40 than the earlier FJ25:frown:

Don't know for a 64 but my 65 FJ45 has the gas tank painted spring green. The truck has been painted a few times but the original color was spring green.

It is a nice green :)

Do you happen to remember the link that had all the factory literature delineated by year?

I had it book marked but i cannot seem to find it :(
