So i just bought a 1980 toyota pickup 20r 4x4 pickup. the guy that had it was letting his 17 year old son work on the thing as a project. they decided to replace the fuel system in the truck to an electric fuel pump but left all the hoses, tank, and pump in the bed of the truck because I'm guessing they couldn't figure it out. well no that I'm working on it i can't figure out where each hose goes? pictures, diagrams, or input would be great appreciate it. from the little research I've done there was no attempt to de-smog it. the mechanical fuel pump is still in the truck? would it be better to replace the mechanical pump and put everything factory?

I'd put everything back to factory as its only meant for a certain fuel pressure

i don't think the mechanical fuel pump works, i just bought another electrical pump at orileys got it hooked up and pumping fuel but think the carb is gummed up since i can't get it to fire up with starter fluid.

If it won't light with starting fluid the problem is not your carburetor. Starting fluid by-passes the carb, so your issue is ignition. Unless you are saying it lights with the fluid, but won't continue running.
