Hi all. New to the 70 section but long time cruiser head. In the past I have had well just about all of them. I have a 1974 FJ40 back in the states, had an FJ 55 that's not mine anymore but still in the family, my wife DD'd a FJ62 for a long time had an FJ80 for a few years and just last week I got this bad boy

1987 BJ74 (JDM), 13BT, cable lockers, spring over, pure awesomeness. The wife has claimed it as hers though. I can only hope she will get sick of the diesel rattle and lay claim to the surf instead.

I lived in Okinawa from 1957 through 1963 while my dad was stationed there.

Spring-over?

Let's see some detail pics please.....

It's pretty standard spring over with a cut and turn. It was unclear as to what all was done because he didn't speak English and I don't speak Japanese there was just a lot of pointing and nodding

Camp Shields. And your truck kicks ass. I talked to the owner of T-snip for about an hour about it. He is a great resource for finding parts as he is the president of the Okinawa Land Cruiser Group. I look forward to meeting you.

I had to jump through a few hoops but in the end it wasn't too bad. That hundred plate is gonna be a little rough every year but I it's the price you pay if you wanna get one of these things.

And yes Takeji's a real cool guy. The language barrier was hard to get around but his buddy Nakamura spoke really good English so we were able to talk about lots of cruiser stuff. I told him when I get my 4x4 labs high steer set up I would stop by to see if he wanted one for his 74
