for instance, a 4 inch OME lift kit w/shocks from MAF runs 809 for a fj40...
but, a 4 inch OME lift kit with shocks runs 1495.... thats a 54 percent difference... so is it that you are getting 54% more metal? 54% more paint? are they 54% larger in some appreciable way? I dont think so... , thatis unless youre talking about price

so my rant is just that , why do I have to pay 54% more for something that isnt justfiable 54% better...? and dont cop out and say that MAF sells used toilet paper for 100 bucks, this disparity follows to all vendors that I have ever seen, I assume that most vendors will have their own markup, but that they are generally passing on the savings, or lack thereof to cosumers...

I hope that didnt come off too jerkified... I'm just annoyed that I have to take out a 2nd mortgage to finance lifting my truck... seriously there are ifs lift kits less expesive that this....

I understand and agree with the frustration....however.

I believe in a equal comparison so I know for sure that the money is going towards a good deal not just a cheaper product.

And in an effort to be clear.

MAF $ are...

40 Basic Kit....809
60 Basic Kit....770-880 depending on load

40 Delux Kit....1165
60 Delux Kit....1240-1355 depending on load.

Just using MAF website for ease not a pro or con for them.
Kurt's numbers are similar.
Again not the huge discrepancy.

Now looking at ARB/OME's site and product description there are several steps that they take that look on paper more than the average manufacturer.

I don't think you are sounding "jerkified", and I don't want seem like an OME lobbiest, but every thing I am seeing is not quite as dramatic as I am hearing.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

I think that to correctly advance this discussion, we need some Hell Creek prices on the 60 kit, when it finally comes out, including the base price and options, as well as what the base and options include. We know what comes in the ome basic and delux kits, but I'd like to see what comes in the Hell Creek kit.

Prices yet?

That is why I wanted to get a clear idea of what we are comparing.

OME a well proven product, with a solid price tag to go with it vs the new and highly anticipated......

With my finances the way the are today I will be right on time....

Hell freezing, Springs avail. then extra $.

interesting I dont know what part of the site you are looking at to get those numbers, (imho its very poorly designed) I only see one OME kit from MAF for the FJ60 and its 1400+ but if that is the case, then Hell Creek better post some great numbers e.g. 500-600 to make people want to take a chance..

I stand corrected?

The one you looked at is a specific kit w/ shackle reversal.
There are a couple of other choices up the list. One has the complete list of kits, and options.

You are right about the design, I am used to it now.

I hope Hell Creek can be competitive.

as they say in the hood... fo shizzle!

Just Got an e-mail from Tom...

looks like its going to come in about 200 higher than I expected, 800 plus shipping for the 2 1/2 that incl shox , ubolts and bushings...

someone with more money than me should order one up so we can see how they hold.. as for me, I'm going to need to wait a few months before I can front the cash for the envitable lift...

Tom at Hell Creek emailed me for a FJ60 spring kit that is ready, But I am Passing at the moment, The Tax man needs the cash so whoever is next in line should email him.

hah I was first!! I am sooooo a bigger nerd than you!

i've been keeping up with the progress and noticed only one person said anything about the shackle being perpendicular to the frame. i always believed that the shackle was to be at a 45 deg angle from the frame. am i mistaken or was that kind of tap danced around?

I ordered my 2.5" kit (springs, bushings, u-bolts, Nitro shocks) today and it came to $940.38 shipped to my door. The price did go up a little due to Tom using Nitro shocks...said they will ride a little more firm, but w/ the weight of the 62 the Nitro's will hold up longer and help keep the springs from sagging. I'm stoked!
Now I'm on a mission to find shackles to replace the OEM...not necessary according to Tom, but while I'm there I might as well make another improvement. I assume I also need to get or make some sway bar extensions.
Tom will be closed for the next couple of days...I just missed UPS and now my kit won't ship out until Tuesday...no biggie to me.
I'll take tons of picture and will try to get the ATX crew to help w/ the install, beer, and pictures.

You got it! Anyone have any advice on shackles?

Are these 60 series lift kits being produced one at a time or are they available for one and all? I'd try out this lift vs OME for the price on my 62 fo sho.

who runs Hell creek on their 40? I did a search and didnt see much positive feedback from the 40 guys.

Volunteer has a set on his 67 and I believe he really likes them.

I'm still struggling to find the time to replace the rear springs. I may have to pull an all nighter and get'r done.
