Heater Question??

Update: So i flushed my heater core and checked my thermostat to see if it opened up. I put a new seal on the tstat and tried it out tonight. Soooo the gauge goes up around 1/4 of the way. Still not hot enough to make a real difference. Do i go ahead and replace the tsat and see what happens? I planned on hunting up some snow when i get some down time next week but not without heat!
