Looks like I have a heater core issue, just noticed coolant in the floorboard of the 60. Any thing I need to buy along with the heater core that makes sense up front? Heater core sources...I'll look at Rock Auto.

Ya, it's a pain. My buddy and I did mine in about 8 hours taking our time. While I was in there, I replaced all the foam seals between all the ducting and on the HVAC flaps. Adds some time but it'll probably disintegrate as you pull it apart anyway. Should be able to replace most of it with weatherstripping foam you can find at most hardware stores.

While the dash board is out .... clean up the accessory wiring , clean the intake side of the A/C evaporator, ( mine was clogged with dog hair) , Use compressed air to blow 30 years of dust out from behind the dash, pull the pedal pins and lube them , clean out the ducting, ...

In looking at the above noted threads....it looks like there are two small sections of hard line that run from the firewall to the heater core and then mate with the heater core. How does this work...the mating of the two hard lines with the heater core and if the part breaks on the stock truck when you are tacking stuff apart are you hosed in regard to getting it back working like the OEM setup?

I assume you could rig up something to get connections back out throiugh the firewall and to the heater houses out under the hood...

Not to impressed with the hater core connections I see in the various pics or the design of such a thing.

IIRC there's a couple of O-rings in there, that seal the pipes thru the firewall to the heater core. I'd get some new ones. 96710-01016

Or, I see from an older thread, part's been super'd to 96711-19016

Thanks... I'll look into getting some of those.

Any lessons learned.... in the overall install...anyone?

Got to order the heater core and items noted above....then I have to get mentally fired up to start this "goat--rope"...

Lessons learned ?

Get a bottle of Tylenol for your fawking aching back after you're done ... :D

More positions than a Kama Sutra book !

(oh), taking the seats out made it a lot easier (contortion-wise), at least for me...

How hard is it to get to the intake side of the A/C Evaporator without taking the dash out...Is it possible?

I would like to clean it up as its prolly clogged like yours with Hair and hopefully help improve the AC cooling a bit.
