Hi everyone,
I’ve been having some trouble finding a headunit replacement solution for my new JDM-spec 100 Series. I’ve contacted every car audio shop I can find in my country, but unfortunately no one has been able to help.
The main issue seems to be that the Japanese buttons are integrated into the factory headunit, and unlike the US-spec versions, the JDM models have the A/C controls integrated into the headunit as well. This appears to be the biggest hurdle when trying to replace it.
I’ve seen a few threads from people with similar issues, but I’ve never seen anyone confirm a proper solution or what actually worked for them.
I looked into the GROM Bluetooth adapter, but the owner of GROM mentioned that this may be one of those vehicles where it doesn’t work. To confirm compatibility, I would need to remove the entire headunit and unplug everything to check the wiring and count the number of pins on the different connections.
Before I go down that path, I wanted to see if anyone else with a JDM-spec 100 Series has had this issue and managed to find a solution?
At the moment I’m using a cassette AUX adapter for music, and while I know Bluetooth FM transmitters are an option, I’d rather avoid them as they generally aren’t the best quality.
Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated!!!!
Thanks everyone!!!
