Hi folks, here we go!
After a (very) long time enjoyed a short cruise with the BJ42 in the hills overlooking the village I live in Peloponnese, S.Greece and would like to share some pics and thoughts...
First things first, on the road to the small historic town of Kalavryta (Kalavryta - Wikipedia - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kalavryta) a stop for some "fuel" at the local winerey...

Orchards and olive groves gradually disappeared and gave place to a rougher terrain...

Driving through a pine forest that unfortunately has been devastated by the wildfires two years ago (see pics taken from home)...

PS. After the Teseven incident in France, you can imagine that I was peeing my pants when that occured, given that in the garage are three 40-Series... 😲

Thank you mate!
It could be better in a sunny day: my humble Sony A6000 tried to cope with the poor light of this afternoon...
Let us upload the rest:

Took the track to the South, towards the mountain vineyards, near the ruins of the ancient town of Kerynia...
In the background one can see the North: the Gulf of Corinth and the mountains of mainland Greece.

Descending now, to reach the vineyards...

Reached my destination, the archaeological site of the ancient town of Keryneia: ToposText - https://topostext.org/place/382221PKer
Although there is info in english, ufortunately the map is in Greek only...
At least one can see the path from the coast to the ancient town (blue point) through the mountain.

You're welcome Michael!
As a S. Californian you know first hand what a summer wildfire at our latitude means...

Well folks, after this short retreat wih the BJ42, I would like to share some thoughts:

a) this Peloponnese landscape, "the perfect terrain for the Land Cruiser" as @Slapshot said above, is typical for many places in Greece, a mostly mountaineous country. This should be taken into account when choosing his own Cruiser: for this type of trails and tracks the short wheelbase J40s and 42s seem to be the most manoeuvrable and easy to use among the 40-Series family

b) the 3B diesel engine proved to be more than adequate for this kind of usage. Low end torque and the transmission ratios chosen by the clever Japs did their job.
I know that in the US the 3B is often seen as a "little engine" and, because of displacement of 3,4L/210c.i., not suitable for interstate use. In Europe it is assessed differently though: the French love it because "is bursting with energy", the Germans appraised it as a powerful engine ("3B ist eine Macht!") and for the Greeks is the engine of the mighty Dyna truck. I think it has to do with shorter distances and less interstate/Autobahn use in the old continent, especially in small countries like Portugal or Greece.
