I picked up this 1991 HDJ81 about two weeks ago, and I've been hard at it, starting my build. Ordered 3 in OME heavy lift with Manfre 30mm spacers for the front. All new adjustable track bars front and rear, front and rear sway bar drop brackets. I went with Black Rock Yuma 16x8 wheels with factory offset and back spacing, and 315/75/16 BF Goodrich KO2s. Installed ARB winch/bull bar with Smittybilt 10k winch. All new led light inside and out. I have the roof rack just haven't installed due to height issues with my shop.

Very clean! Good for you.

Nice truck!

I have same wheels only chrome. :hmm:

Looks like a nice, clean, HDJ81!

Questions about your great rig: How is the 1HD-T doing turning those big tires? Do you feel any gearing change is needed? What are hwy RPMs like before and after?

So far no issues, it maintains hey speed without downshifting, it's not a race horse, but the motor/trans appears to have no trouble with it..

Addressing some surface rust in a few areas, rear gate, I had a sunroof air dam and it was apparently loose so it caused some paint chips down to the bare metal, also had a little surface rust on the bottom of the rear doors. This is all gone now and should be out of paint in a day or so...

Didn't get started last night like I wanted and let's just say this roof rack wasn't meant to be a one man job! Found a new use for pool noodles! Now I just gotta beat the heat !!

Hey @Webster77, love your rig! I'm thinking about getting a set of the black rock yuma wheels for my 80... I was wondering if you had any issues with them clearing the calipers? I noticed you put spacers on the front. Thanks!

I didn’t have to run any spacers for the wheels, I do have cool spring spacers just to offset the weight of the bumper and winch. The wheels are plug and play with the factory offset, no issues with the calipers!
