Hey

I have been offered a used HDJ80 that has driven 605,000 km, but there is no knowledge of engine maintenance. what do you guys think ?.. is there a way to check whether the big end bearings are ok, done or killed = rebuild of the 1HD-FT ?..

I would not be worried about the engine so much. At this many kms you would have to expect something needs to be done to the engine.

Other things would worry me a lot more.
What maintenance was done? Was it documented? What parts were used? OEM? Rust? How old is the suspension? Bushings?

You can always swap in another engine, you don't always have to rebuild it. Labor and parts can be expensive if everything else was ignored.

Got a 1998 no rust and only 228,000km kzj90 3,0 automatic instead.
