1976 pig.

I hate the factory front bench. Gonna pull and sell as in decent shape, but first I need to figure out what I should replace with.

I want front buckets, adjustable up down, front back and tilt, with a center console.

Electric preferable.

What center consoles look and work well.

What fits and what looks good?

Any pics?

Thanks,

T

I picked up some nice leather electric seats and I'm building supporting brackets for them. Anything should fit with the right fabrication. Console will depend largely on what seats you use and their width.

Not leather or electric but we scored some honda civic seats for cheap and they are sooooo comfy. I love them. I'm sure there are electric and leather honda seats out there... pretty much I would think any bucket would fit if you cut and chopped and made them fit.

I took some out of a Mazda MPV. They lay back flat, tilted foward, slide foward and aft, and had center arm rests that folded up as well. I like to have the center clear so that I can move easily to the back.

I have replaced them just recently. So I have the mount and the seats if you're interested. Basically a bolt up scene. I'm out in S. California.

Someone tried to PM me from Italy regarding purchase of my seats.

Please hold all offers until I have posted in Classifieds.

Thanks.

Not leather or electric...my first bucket seats were out of a Cellica convert in a junkyard, on a homemade rectangular bracket that went from stock mount to stock mount across the tranny hump.
Years later I answered an ad on 'Mud for a pair of Corbeau buckets and a matching mounting bracket for a 55...So I went and got 'em and mounted them. I like the Celica buckets better.

Ya - those seats are just too narrow, thought it was just my big arse :(. I had seats out of my '94 Celica in my 40, they were nice -

The buckets that were in my Pig when I bought it. To be replaced in the near future... don't know if these will help or not but thought i would offer.

Hey snowpig... I like the seats and I might be interested, but more importantly, were you changing a clutch? If so, does the engine hoist through the tranny shifter cover area work well?

I need to replace as throwout bearing and that method was suggested. Does it really work???

Thanks,

T

that's the way i've always done it...by far the easiest way

2x- It's a one man/ woman job this way. Replace each bolt that holds the trans to the bh with a dowel, and slide it right off and back on.

How many bolts hold tranny to bellhousing, and how do i best access them.

Hijacking my own thread BUT this is terrific information for me.

Best,

T

And full circle. Here is Pigheads old bracket installed in my pig along with Corbeau buckets. I love them and at 6.5 they work great for long drives or short thrashing runs. Not too narrow for me, but I am a dumbass, so that may explain...

Thanks again Pighead! I owe.

Edit. You must view the lower photo while standing on your head....

do they make dowels that long? here's my sst

The bolts that hold a steering box on a 60, work great as dowels. I simply cut the bolt head off and make a notch in the top that allows a flat head screw driver to screw it in and out.
