I'm looking for a hard top for my 73, but here on the island they're scarce(read - nonexistent). Being desparate and more than a little crazy, I have an idea. I welcome comments on a cedar-strip top. Yes, like a canoe. I'm looking for some software where I can do a virtual mock up. Barring that, anyone have a top for sale? Undeterred by flaming. :p

I think you can get after market fiberglass top parts if you can't locate original pieces- have seen them somewhere on the web... The cedar strip idea is novel but I'm still trying to keep my lunch down picturing it in my head... Had a buddy fab a fiberglass half top for his cj5 using foam core insulation sheets for the flat areas then he covered it with mat and resin. He used plexy glass for the rear window and fabbed tunnels to go around the factory roll bar. It was a one of a kind top...

I DID say I was desperate. My creation would be covered in f-glass and painted. No one would know, except you guys. Still, the real thing would be best, I admit.

How much fab work would you be willing to do? I have a decent set of sides. They're not pristine but not bad. You could get that top off CL. You'd still need to figure out the doors though.

I have a 1965 top that needs work. Has the bifold door in the back with sides. No doors. Not sure if it will fit on a 1973. Coming from NE Oregon to Port Townsend on July31/Aug 1. PM me if interested.

Ian, just do it and post pics.

Come say hello at the local clubhouse...
CA.BC- Vancouver Island Cruisers

They do come up now and then. Check UsedVictoria, guy on there had a shipping container of cruiser parts. There was a top pictured... Don't remember about sides.

$1 · FJ/BJ Land Cruiser Parts

Add recently expired... But will likely be renewed. I see parts of two tops in the pics. I've got a rear ambulance header bar if you need one.
