hard brake line needed 9mm old axles anyone

I am working on the 68' fj40, and the rear right brake line is shot. Does anyone have an old drum brake axle from a 68' or older fj in the parts pile? I can use either the line from the splitter to the right rear cylinder or the cylinder to cylinder connector.

Ya might call Mark's Off Road, (818) 953-9230, (65swb45 on here) if ya don't find one local. I know he's a nice stash of older parts. The 9mm stuff is hard to come by. I ended up switching all mine over to 10mm. It's available at most any auto parts store and uses the same hard line as the 3/8". Kind'a nice if ya ever switch to rear disc brakes with GM calipers.
 
Kelly, I have a whole frame from the 67 with all brakes and axles intact, just come and get it, you can have it. All the lines are still on it.

If I remember correctly, it is a good 4 hours up to your place from KC. Can I talk you into trying to pull one of the linese and mailing it my way? The real issue is if you can get one of the brake lines off without twisting it off.

I soaked all of the ends in catalizing penatrant for a couple days, and still the ends would not spin around the tubing, and the lines would just twist off.

I don't think I ever told you that I only found a couple wiper arms. I don't know why I don't have several extra. Hope you got ahold one.

If we get out to the farm when the weather is decent I'll see if I can get the lines off. It is about 6 hours to here from KC.

I completely replaced my wiper motors and all with a kit from JC Whitney. I couldn't get the old motors to even work. The stuff from JC Whitney was a perfect replacement.

Good to know about JC Whitney. Man I have not bought from them since high school. I just used the old impact screwdriver I got from them on the windshield frame a few weeks ago and it finally broke. It only lasted 24 years!!! Guess there stuff is not junk all the time.
 
lemme look on an old 64 rear axle in garage. if any bit of hard line is present your welcome to it. I'm pretty sure it's an empty housing i'm keeping for the sway bar mounts that I have yet to cut off.
 
Kelly, I have to work tomorrow morning, but hoping to get my new driveshaft in and I will try and run out to the farm and see if I can get those lines off. Since the weather is suppose to be nice and I have the pain in my mouth under control I'll see what I can get done tomorrow.

Thanks for the linky. I was looking at that the other day. It motivated me to buy a flaring tool set and some line. I am headed out right now to see if I can get out the old ends and reuse them to make new line. I saw a tiny crack on the end of one of the nut-ends. In theory, I don't think that it will matter as the connection is from the brake line to the cylinder, and the nut just provides the force in.

We will see if I am correct or not.

Thanks for the input, I will let you all know when I test it in a few weeks.

If anyone finds an extra line, please let me know as I have a feeling this will not be the only brake issue.
