Did my own install on a 2021 LC. Went fine, works well. It took me a little over an hour because I have never done something like this and I was being very careful. Even after watching a couple videos multiple times I used one while going step by step through the process. The only thing I would have done differently is get a trim removal tool. (Ends up my neighbor has one!) I also should have done a better job remembering where each screw went and which type they were. Not that much different. All 10mm. But some are longer than others. When I “finished” I had one left over. Doh! Had to go through the video again and figure out where it went. Oh, and I followed a recommendation from Hamilton. Before putting the trim back I started up the car, connected my phone and test out the connection and some apps. Everything worked great but it gave me peace of mind. Now mine is a Land Cruiser and the audio is not that important to me. I mainly use for map/gps apps like Google Maps, Waze, Gaia and Trails Off-road. The OEM screen isn’t awesome but it works. And it is nice in Google Maps (for example) to be in that mode where the map (with Speed Limit and your estimated speed) is on the left side of the screen and on the right side is your next turn and below that is whatever media you are playing. It also works to swipe right until the CarPlay widgets show up.
If you do go off-road I will add that after the install I did some dirt roads with lots of shaking, etc. I did not “fixed mount” with the Hamilton unit but place it securely in the mass of cables and wires that share that space behind the screen. (This was Hamilton’s recommendation.) all of the jostling from the off-road driving didn’t affect it at all.
