I'm in the process of installing a 5-speed. Next to the fill plug is a threaded hole that goes all the way into the case. Is this something special or can I just put a bolt into the hole to plug it?

Are you talking about the threaded hole on the transmission? If so, that should NOT go all the way into the tranny as it is used to mount the PTO shifter.

I'm having a tough time visualizing exactly what hole that is. If the picture is upside down it'll be the PTO shifter bracket mounting hole. I don't think there are any other threaded holes on that side of the tranny (at least not on my H55 which is an '84 production and I have mounted the PTO to it as well).
