I have a basically new H55f and it’s for a 2f I’m looking for a 3b input shaft (and retainer?) so I can adapt it to my 3b.

I agree that Georg is the man but I may have both types of B h55f shafts as George has converted those 5 speeds from B to the course spline F over the years.

Go ping Georg as the shafts are about 550 miles away and I wont make it out to the farm for 3-4 weeks.

Will do.

If your new 5speed has ears on the retainer then it's the 85+ design. See the last 3 pictures.

I know one of my 3B 5 speed shaft came off a 85 BJ42 LX out of Netherlands.

Eitherway you have some part numbers to reference.

Thanks! I’ll check but think it’s a late model year h55.

Looks like a newer one post 85.

10/85 is actually the start of the model year in markets like the US that have a model year. That is the date for the input shaft and bearing retainer change.

Would be curious on the build date of the 85 BJ42 LX? I know the long wheel base 40 series were produced and sold in small number up to 4/86. Haven't seen any FJ40 or BJ42 made past 10/84. 11/84 was the start of the 70 series.

So I got the 3B big valve + 5 speed from Joe Katana up near Dallas maybe 7 years ago. The reason I got this was because it had the 5 speed top cover for 40 series that was shifted forward. It had a splitcase that was a 34mm idler. I remember that it was an LX and had funky stripped colored seats that looked zebra like.

I'll be in El Paso in 3 weeks and I can take pictures of the casting.

Like I said I know I have the shaft, if you want to wait a few weeks.

Thanks
Ernie
