Can the top plate out of an '82 4speed work on the H55 to correctly locate the shifter?

With a 4 inch lift would the rear driveshaft fit?

Would a front driveshaft out of an 85 or later FJ60 work with this conversion? Or any other factory driveshafts?

#1: the 4 speed cover wont have provisions for the 5th gear shift rod exiting the back of the cover. there are very rare H55 coverplates that have the shifter in the stock FJ40 location. Not going to find one easily though

#2 the transmission is 3-4 " longer, so doubt very much that the stock rear shaft will work, even with a 4" lift. Just get the driveshafts modified. Its not that much money, and that way they are the correct length, not a close fit...

#3 Drive shaft flange patterns are different for 85 and up driveshafts. look for an earlier FJ60 front shaft.

the shift tower on the H55 sits farther back and with the transmission a little longer it makes for almost stock location if you go w/SBC. Prolly not an option though...
