Georg @ Valley Hybrids is pretty close to you, and the best in the business. He is in Stockton, CA.

You can ship both units to us, or bring them up here, and we’ll be happy to rebuild them for you.
We just finished this H42 combo last week.

I had my H41 with Orion combo built by Mark A at Marks Off Road in Burbank. He's done a lot of H41.

I'll post my pix if I can find them.

Same here, Mark built my Orion and installed it with an H41. I highly recommended him. Give him a call! 818-953-9230

Mark also rebuilt my H41 and Orion, showed me all the all issues once dismantled, and addressed several problems from the previous rebuilder. His expertise, attention to detail, and the final results were excellent! I highly recommend speaking Mark! 818-953-9230

Hey Martin!

Please leave a voicemail at my office and I will call you ASAP. My wife and I might be stopping by the shop tomorrow. If not then, I’ll get back to you Monday.😊

@orangefj45 Is that a Marlin case? Are they available for the H42/Splitcase combo still, or is this an older unit from when they produced them in the past? I thought I had read these were NLA from Marlin.

Martin,

I was finally able to start on your rebuild today. So far, it’s pretty much as expected. Imput gear and bearing were stuck bad enough I had to pull out my factory SST to break everything loose.(

There are times I appreciate what I was able to buy when I started doing this four decades ago.)

Tailshaft was pretty much wiped out the way I told you it would be.

Better view with the sludge removed. Splines over half gone.

Unfortunately, the splines on the inside of the input gear are also worn.☹️

You never asked me that!

IMO The H41 is pretty much the same as the 3speed on the street, with the exception of the ‘launch’ of 1st gear for the first 20 feet. Downshifting on the hills leaves you revving the motor about the same as the 3speed. It will probably be early next week before I tear into the trans. Hope to get the tcase parts cleaned up for inspection today/tomorrow.

Not looking too good Marty:

I think if I zoomed in on the craters a little more, and slipped the pics onto the NASA website, nobody would notice!😱

Rode Hard And Put Away Wet

Spoke with Martin earlier. Realized that I’d left out a couple of pics. The first shows the color and consistency of what flui was last run in the case. The second is just a puddle of water on the ground. But the significance of the water is that it was not there UNTIL I pulled the output shaft from the case. Might explain why the shift fork was so rusty.
