In 1999 models the input shaft of the transfer case switched from a shaft with pressed on gears to an all in one gear and shaft. Are the splines on the transmission the same?

yup.

Really want to know if all the transfer cases can fit on all the transmissions. I have the early spline system and can easily test. But I do not have one of the gear/shaft combos.

I might be ordering a new case from overseas, the late are 48kg the early are 62-64kg.

transfer cases from HZJ105 are definitely not compatible despite having the same designation, I believe all 80series transfer cases would be, but there is differences with VC, full time/part time etc

I am ordering a JDM 2015 GRJ transfer case to fit on my 1991 transmission. I'll tell you how it goes.

Early transmissions H151/150 use 60120 main shaft which in turn uses 60030 (or 60040) transfer input. Transfer input shaft for HDJ79 (2006) is a 60040 input. Main shaft in hdj79 H150 is 60140. Main shaft in a JDM 2015 GRJ76 is 60140. T case uses all in one gear/shaft 60120 for grj. Ass end of all transmissions begins with 60070- then 60071 and 60072 BUT the 1999+ models use 60170 housing (non separated seat).

I have a 60170 ass end on my 1991 transmission (and a 60161 front end to get the 70 series tcase mount)

I seriously doubt they ARE NOT interchangeable.
