I use Torque Pro with a $15 WiFi adapter. Torque Pro is only $5.

Unfortunately my little Autel code reader and data monitor thing doesn't see or catch trans temps IIRC. I'd really like to go to a scanguage type of setup but what I really want is a nice OLED MFD with configurable multi-gauge....

That is what OBDLink MX+ is, you add your own OLED Device as long as it is Bluetooth enabled. Most people use their regular phone I elected to buy an unlocked cheapie unlocked phone Black Friday a year for display using OBD Fusion. You can configure Fusion with whatever you want it to display. And can totally customize the displays. Over the last year I have played around with mine and have it to where it makes the most sense to me.

Or you can use radial gauges like @jeremy j posted just a bit ago with lows and highs, min and max, etc.

Used to use the paid Torque Pro app, but like the OBDII Link better.

On the 460 anyway I wouldn’t go back to Torque. OBD Link Fusion/Link was worth the cost. I consider it about as close to a portable Techstream without bidirectional control. I haven’t checked again in last few years but when I played with Torque years back it still couldn’t see all the 460 ECUs and seemed to require formulas for some basic monitoring.

I used the Torque app early on when I had my Hundy (pre GX) and a no-name BlueTooth OBDII dongle.
When I got the MXLink I thought I might as well just use their app too. But Acad is right, it is easier and can tap into more of the vehicles ECU's than Torque.

No. Only the liquid cooled one plumbed into the driver side of the radiator. Air cooled AT cooler was never installed stock in any '10-'19 460 in the US. The 470s could be equipped with them if they had tow package IIRC.

2020 with off-road package is the first US 460 year/trim to offer an external AT air cooler.

Quick check: Look through grill and if blank under horns it doesn't have the air cooler.

Here is mine during install of OEM cooler and what it would look like on a fully loaded Canadian GX 460.

Another note... only 3 zone HVAC 460s have the AC condenser fan in first picture. Two zone do not.
is it just me or is the factory cooler a bit underwhelming?

I'd have guessed something about double that size.

You also have different types of AT coolers to choose from

It's not you. I went with the factory cooler and all factory parts because it was factory. I did notice on a long road trip that transmission temps seemed to drop by about 10 deg F on average. I can still get to 200 F and above in stop and go city traffic. If I had to do the job again I'd probably go with a larger aftermarket. I think I put maybe 20k miles since the cooler install. I did a transmission fluid single drain/fill a few months ago and the fluid still looked pretty good.

If anyone is looking for a REALLY good trans cooler, I would direct you towards this company:

They are more expensive, but I will probably use them because it seems like the kind of thing where "cry once" makes sense.

IME, tube and fin is pretty fragile and needs some kind of protective screen or chicken wire or something over it.

I like that Setrab lists actual heat rejection figures and has a metric o-ring boss port as standard. This is much more robust and reliable than any barb fitting.

You could always take the loop connected to radiator out if a larger cooler doesn’t take you down as much as you want.

This is a before/after temp graph of to/from my cabin before and after adding OEM cooler 5 years back. I keep thermostat pinned open.

At first I got excited, been trying to figure out when the wax poppet valve first opens and looking at the bottom graph thought there it is! Then realized you pin the T-Stat open LOL.

Are these at the Torque Converter or Transmission pan?

Either way I would be pleased with those temps after the cooler install, very happy.

I think the thermostat opens at 190F. I was in the Chic fil a line today, idling for 15 minutes. Trans temp and coolant temp were in equilibrium at 190F for 5-10 min, then suddenly drops to 188F pan temp. TC was 201.

I only saw the top portion of the picture and was like dang that's a flat line. Then I realized there was more. Drove 8 1/2 hours today so I should probably rest.

I was told the factory trans thermostat would be enough to prevent overcooling of the Hayden 678. Once I get back home and can get the phone I use to monitor temps I'll see if I need to. Hoping I won't.
The thermostat on the side of the transmission will maintain around 195-200 degrees. It fully opens up around 220degrees. I verified this using OBD-Link software while towing: The converter temp would climb up to 220-225 and quickly drop to 195-200. This occurred every 5 minutes or so. Temperatures are with an OEM cooler installed.

FYI, this doesn’t say that it fits the 1UR. I wouldn’t take the nearly $500 risk to see if it does.

On another note, I have the mountain passes off-road bracket and the Hayden 678 and they work great.
Can you post some pics of how it is installed, horn relocation, etc? What are your temps running.

Also, it is not $500 USD. It is AUD. Closer to around $280ish, depending on the currency conversion at the time of purchase.

That's exactly what I saw. 10-15deg drop when driving; I'm on 285's and a 2.5" lift as well.

Do you have your thermostat pinned on the passenger side of the transmission @ the puck?

I was thinking of getting the mountain passes bracket but came across this from Kaon:

Cruiser Brothers sells the Australian made Wholesale Automatic Transmission cooler which is similar to the Kaon made for the Prado 150. They had to modify the mounting brackets on it to fit the Lexus GX, supposedly they fit now they did not before. I just dug up my email from them earlier in the year. Total was $477.50 with a 10% discount it was $95 shipping from Australia. Don't forget the shipping cost from Australia, it isn't cheap.

Hayden 698 internal bypass cooler is $60 but it is made in the US, not Australia LOL.

2019-21 Tundra has the A760F transmission and they dropped the cooler on those year models. Same issues on those rigs they run 230-250. A guy on the Tundra forums started building tranny cooler kits with the Setrab 15 row coolers for ~$1,200. They are extremely popular with the Tundra guys.

Pinning the transmission T-Stat bypass open would be something I'd do all year if I could but not a good idea here. It is up to -2° right now pretty sure the ATF needs a bit of a warm up before I head to Costco this morning to see if they have any A5 Wagyu Ribeye in stock. Would have to unpin the thermostat for at least 7-8 months of the year where I live. As a safe bet could use the same schedule that they add anti gelling blend to diesel fuel.

Brrr, that's FREAK'N COLD!!
Just made a stew with Costco Wagyu beef a couple weeks ago. Oh, man!!! That was goooood!
I'm surprised how reasonably priced it is.

That’s a significant improvement even with the “small” OEM cooler. That suggests that maybe it’s not too difficult to keep temps in check if almost any cooler is added.
