Anyone running Wildpeak AT4W? Had a great experience with the AT3W so decided to go with the newer version, ended up spent a few weeks chasing vibrations and pulls. Turned out 3 of the 4 tires were out of round, and the other one had to do match mounted to lower the road forces.

After everything was done and alignment confirmed. It still drift to the right so I am suspecting one of the tire may have radial pull.
Curious, what size Wildpeak AT4Ws were you running?

I had a set of 265/65r18 AT4Ws for about 6 months that could never balance properly ... 4 different attempts from 2 separate (good) shops. I eventually had them taken back by Discount Tire under warranty and switched to BFG K03s. Its interesting to note that most of the Wildpeaks are made in Japan, while a few sizes (including the ones I had) are made in Thailand. I've wondered if they have different QC process and tolerance across the two facilities, as folks buying other sizes don't seem to have issues.

FWIW, I am happy with the BFGs although they are D-rated and you can definitely feel the weight.

This is why I always recommend Dest XTs and Dueler Ascents. You can get a 33" LT E that weighs 53 lbs and rides well. Their Enlighten tech is legit.

I have 265/70R18 and yeah they were made in Thailand. I was a littler worried when I saw that because my last set were made in Japan and they ran perfectly fine.

My local discount tire attempted to balance at least 5 times and found 1 of them is out of round. Took it to a different shop and found another two. So I got 3 brand new tires through warranty but they didn’t give me an option to replace with different brand so I’m kinda stuck with Wildpeak.

I don’t mind the F sport wheels and it aligned with my factory looking built but really should have gone down to 17” wheel with C rated tires.

Both of those tires appear quite a bit less aggressive than a AT4W.

Falkens are great in SL-loads. Their SLs are not apples-to-apples with other SLs as (at least in most 17" sizes) the Falken SLs are rated at 51 psi, while most every other SL is rated at 42 psi max pressure. For me they occupy a "sweet spot" for a multipurpose towing, wheeling, and short-distance daily driver rig as they ride nice at 32 psi, tow very well at 51 psi, wheel well at 15 psi, aren't overly heavy at 53# for a 285/70R17, and have great puncture resistance (no flats in nearly 6 years of Falken ownership). I looked long and hard when my AT3Ws were getting worn out in 2024 and couldn't find a tire that checked all of those boxes, so I bought the AT4Ws.

But per my earlier post, I'd never buy them in a C or E unless they were going on a 3/4 ton pickup with larger brakes/axles/engines. If they weren't available in a SL in my size of choice I'd get something else in a C rating.

Hard disagree.

Revo 3s got me out of quite a few mud holes. Almost as good as my MTs in the gumbo.

In about 4-6" of mud, not aired down. Bridgestones are as good as most folks need if you dont need a true MT.

Very impressed with my AT4Ws (265/65/18 SL). good ride, relatively quiet and zero punctures so far after a couple thousand offroad miles in some very rocky terrain.
Yea, where i wheel now will slice an MT.

I took 3 screws to revos from the same mud hole over 6 months.

Slid into a ditch and sliced one of my hakkipilettas. Only time i have ever ditched it, was able to drive out. Didn't notice the slice and ended up changing it on a shelf road with winds and about 10 degrees F. Good times. 😂

Alex took a stake into the sidewall.pf one of the MTs. The Cameron burn scar has been recovering, so the fire hardened downed trees are hidden on the edge if the trail. They drifted to the right. Got a new tire from discount for 70$.

Even with the best tires, s*** happens when wheeling. I have started bringing it up in my 4wd group that folks doing trails over a 4 should have a full size spare and the ability to change your own tire. Just a matter of if not when.

For a while I was hitting dirt multiple times a day, now its much less often. 😕

460s are very underrated.

My truck makes me look like a pro. I am not. I dont tell that to the guys in the Rubicons, tho. Can't be giving away my secrets.

Very glad to hear that! Maybe I got a batch made on a Friday afternoon. Hopefully the majority of experiences align with yours.

I notice the Jeeps can do a bit better on highly-technical/off-camber obstacles where the SFA flex really helps. Outside of that (i.e., 95%+ of trail miles) the GX is faster, more comfortable, and more powerful.

How are the AT4s compared to the AT3s? My AT3s have around 50k on them with plenty of tread left, but they're wearing horribly. They're louder than any MT I've ever run and they wobble like they're completely unbalanced. If you look at the tires, every other lug is significantly higher/lower. I've never experienced anything like it in 25+ years of running all terrain tires.

Wearing well; I checked tread depth the other day and they are on-target for being at 3/32" when they hit 60K miles. I did notice one had some extra wear on the outer edge last time I rotated them, but that was probably due to an alignment issue (I drove the rig too long with the toe being a bit out).

My old AT3Ws (M-USA, if that matters) wore very well and they saw quite a bit of gravel and wheeling use, as well as thousands of towing miles. I am surprised yours are not doing well - are they the non-M-USA version perhaps? Or an E or C load? I've only ran the SLs.

That being said if you aren't wheeling fairly often I'd pick a different tire than the AT4Ws, and it would probably be Toyo Open Country AT3s which are quite a bit lighter but less aggressive and probably less robust.

Interesting. Mine are C load and made in Thailand. I'll look into the SLs when I get new tires here soon. Thanks for the heads up!

My AT3ws were wearing well but only lasted a littler over 30k with significant amount to dry rot, sidewall cracks and a few spot of separation, but never had balancing issues.

If you stay with Wildpeak, try to look for the ones that were made in Japan or USA.

Definitely not enough front spring. You could experiment with more preload in the front or stiffer front springs on the 6112s you already have.
That being said, some bigger remote res shocks to go with some stiffer front springs will probably be worth it since you are doing 8+ hour off road drives. I send it pretty hard on my Dobinson MRR + Perryparts set up and I've never had issues with crashing through the bumpstops or with shock fade and thats with E load 33x12.5 tires.

following up to show the areas where tire is smashing wheel well. i installed the perry extended travel bump stops and +140 lb front weight springs are on the way.

I bet that's the difference honestly. Both sets of mine are M-USA, maybe it's the heavier-rated tires that are made overseas.

KDSS makes a huge difference. I articulate the same as a rubicon with stock sway bars.

Just picked this up. 2016 Satin Cashmere with Noble Brown interior. Had to search awhile for this one…color very similar to my old 1994 80. Needs lift and tires pronto!
