Did a trip with a few friends in the Swedish forest last weekend. Always great to get out!

This is what the car looks like today. Nextm in May, I will put the Kaymar rear bumper on. Sliders and lights later in the year. Just have to get rid of the shipping issues that makes stuff delivered from AU or US too slow as it is now.

What motor are you running?

Not sure if you meant mine? My Swedish Toyota only comes in one version, as of 2016 year and forward. It's the 2.8 Turbo Diesel. Works fine, but it's NOT a GX460 engine... :-/

Yes, it was your rig I was asking about. The diesel is not a bad option if you're concerned about MPG or I guess in your case KPL (kilometers per liter?) and don't need the horsepower but the torque. Please excuse my ignorance, but you don't have any very tall mountains in Sweden with steep grades that you'd need the horsepower. But for all it's worth, that doesn't mean you can't go down to the Alps either! ;)

How is the road noise at highway speeds with those Terra Grapplers?
Not bad at all actually. You can barely tell a difference over stock street tires. We've been diligent with rotating them and they're still quiet after probably around 20000 miles on them now.

Thanks for the reply big help. I rotate my tires religiously

Very long time lurker that finally found the right GX deal a couple days after Christmas. Slowly putting plans together for a mild build, but today the GX got some SCS and Grabber ATX love.

Getting a little rubbing and tried searching but didn’t find what I was looking for. So, does anyone have a link they can share on how to work/trim the fender liner to eliminate some rubbing on full lock? Set up is -10 17x8.5 with 265/70/17 tires.

Depending on where you are rubbing. I did this and it worked for me with 285/70. I had to take off a lot more on the side steps though.

edit because it didn’t paste the link as I wanted. But you can find it in the group.

found on GXOR Facebook page

New Falkens in 265 on Method MR701 17 x 8.5 wheels. I'm happy with the offset, they line up just right with the fenders. Also new F Sport grill. 2" lift is next.View attachment 2286235View attachment 2286236
Nice set up. You said you liked the offset but didn’t post the actual offset. Mind posting & if you’re having any rubbing issues? I’m considering at 265/70/17 on 17x8.5 with -10 offset set-up & wondering about rubbing issues prior to lift. TIA

Sure, Offset: 0, Backspace 4.75 inches. It does rub in front on the rear side of the wheel well. There's a spot of the liner that bumps out with a screw in it. Only rubs when the wheel is at about 75% lock, which doesn't happen very often. Certainly livable for now.

Nice, I'm getting a new selfdefence pop-gun myself this week.
A judge just reversed the California background check for purchasing ammo so people are crazy here purchasing ammo.
Now, just need to reverse the magazine 10 round limit.

I hope you got some ammo because 9th Circuit Appeals issued a stay on Saturday.

Very cool! We're hoping to move to Sweden in the next couple of years so it's cool to see Prados represented. What's the off road scene like there - is it easy to find places to ride?

Thanks for the info, I was able to get about 95% of the rubbing taken care of. I’m thinking that when I upgrade suspension the last little instances of rubbing will go away.

So in the 23 days that I've owned my 2010 GX460 Premium, I'm now on my 3rd wheel/tire setup. I think I finally found the one I like.

  • Setup #1 (At purchase): 265/60/18 Dueler HT (Fronts) & cheap Sumito (Rears) (30.5") on stock 18" GX460 wheels
    • Don't like mismatched tires. Gave me room to negotiate on purchase price since they were 1/2 worn.
    • Looked way too small for wheel well
    • Average noise on highway
    • Sold on Craigslist for $160

  • Setup #2: 275/65/18 Michelin LTX AT2 (32.1") on stock 18" GX 460 wheels
    • Found on Facebook marketplace for $350 as take-offs from Toyota Tundra. Usually a $225 tire and I love Michelin Defender MS2, so I figured I'd give the AT2 a try.
    • Rubbed on running board screw. Replaced with stainless steel bolt, washer, & zip-ties
    • Filled the wheel well and looked good up close. From afar, had the "soccer-mom" look
    • Very quiet on the road, but seemed to "float"
    • Had a vibration on highway over 70mph. Tried to correct 3x via road-force balancing, 180-degree'ing the tire, etc...
    • Cornering was not good. Honestly I think that 275 is too wide for the GX460.
    • I really wanted to like them since I found $900 worth of tires for $350, but ultimately decided I wanted something different, including wheels.

  • Setup #3: 265/70/17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W (31.65") on 17" Toyota Trail Premium wheels
    • Bought at Discount Tire Direct for $468 on a flash sale ($117 per tire) + $127 for spare tire.
    • I plan to do 5 tire rotations including spare.
    • Purchased 5 17" Toyota Trail Premium wheels for $425 off Facebook Marketplace
    • By FAR the best looking of the tire setups I've tried. Looks super aggressive.
    • The tires really are super quiet for AT tires. Actually quieter than the Michelin AT2. (I'm sure the Michelin Defender LTX MS2 would be quieter.)
    • Cornering is MUCH better.
    • GX460 feels much more "planted" on the road

Here are some pictures for those looking for comparisons.
