Good times, early June 2021. Ophir pass.

I lifted and did a trip right after. A couple of things. If you’re doing any “challenging” trails I’d go ahead and pre cut the front bumper. Also do your fender massage before you start your journey. Great vehicle for this region. I had a great time out there. View attachment 3620978View attachment 3620979View attachment 3620980View attachment 3620981View attachment 3620982
Thanks for the heads up. I have an HK off road hidden winch mount coming so I'm going to wait for that before doing any bumper trimming. I had already massaged the fenders before the lift (I was running different wheels with the same tires). I plan on doing a few a few trial runs more locally between now and the big trip. Great photos and rig

Did some things; Eibach Stage 2 Lift (gave me 2" in front and 2.5" in rear and the on road ride is fantastic), OME UCAs, DRKDSS Shorty bolt on correction kit and the Nomad 503 Sahara wheels in Dusk wrapped with Toyo Open Country AT3s. Very happy with how it turned out. Planning a trip through the San Juan mountains this summer.

How's the ride quality with the Eibach kit?

On road it's actually much better. No more brake dive and less wallowy. I notice that it handles the speed bumps in my community so much better but I don't have any experience off road with it yet. For just over $1,000 for the stage 2 kit I'm pretty happy. I've been a long time user of Eibach products and I've always experienced great quality and customer service. I like the adjustability of the front coilovers and being able to adjust them on the ground since the shock bodies are stainless steel. It's helped me quickly dial in ride height.

Now it's time for some tires?

Playing out in the white wash sand dunes and Moab. Super fun hitting the dunes (removed my swing out to help my undervalved rear shocks a little bit)

That Peridot almost looks black against the red rock.

It honestly looks really dark or black a lot of the time but once the sun hits it just right, it pops like crazy. I actually had a friend who had seen it quite a few times when I first got it but it was always cloudy out and he thought it was black for like a month haha

A story in 3 pictures.
Fun ride with dog.

Hubris at climbing up a wet 13% grade with all terrains.

The spare I had to put on because of my previous fun and ensuing puncture.

I left my air hose at home so limped to a Caseys and topped it off. Drove home reltovely slowly sticking to gravel wherever possible. Will take the tire in tomorrow to get it fixed. Second puncture in the tire, in the middle of the tread again, hopefully it's fixable. I washed it off pretty well at the car wash to not be a complete ass.

Walmart for the win, again. Tire had a puncture and a nail. It was a two-fer.

Other than basic trails, the wife won't let me do any serious off roading without another rig with us just for reasons like you mentioned.
I have a story about that I'll be posting later today from this last weekend.
Looks like great fun!

For anyone who is curious here are OEM Rotors and Brembo blanks

They both are well made, some different engineering choices on the Brembo but I don't think one is better or worse after inspecting them. Brembos for the GX and OEM for the 4Runner.

I thought the OEM order didnt go through so i bought the Brembos, as I always wanted to try them. I was half expecting them to be exactly the same, but am pleasantly surprised that they both appear unique and of quality construction.

Last weekend I did a full OEM replacement with the same for rotors, pads, and hardware front and rear on my ‘12. I followed with a full brake fluid flush using a Motive power bleeder. Braking seemingly is better than ever. Brake fluid flush was dead simple with power bleeder. I pumped a half gallon through system.. far more than needed but no doubt all old fluid is out.

Nice, I ordered complete replacement hardware for both vehicles. Once I get the pads on and broken in, which looks like just normal ish driving with some care. They will drive it and choose.

Good to know about the Motive bleeder. I replaced just my front pads (OEM Lexus) a few months ago and stopping power was night and day. I can't imagine how much better it would be with new rotors.

Prairie Yota Starting to get a few videos on youtube. I am just using a cellphone right now, but may get something dedicated in the near future.

Yeah, it's cliché. But you've still gotta take the same photo every time you go, because look at that place! Besides, the lighting is always different and maybe you'll catch your kid clowning in the passenger seat.
Looks like fun!
