This is just a reminder that if you bought a pre-owned GX opt for the lexus platinum care plan. I have a 2013 with 137k and timing cover started leaking. About to start the process, but I've had two water pumps replaced, front speaker on Levinson radio replaced, and a few other things. All free courtesy of a $0 deductible unlimited mileage plan that expires in 2024. So 10 years unlimited mileage no questions asked fix every single issue that is not a wearable item with a courtesy loaner (I did inherit the plan from the prior owner I bought from). Probably my favorite perk Lexus offers. I work at an OEM and even I think it's ridiculous they even offer this option, it's a huge upside as a consumer if you keep your vehicle for 10 years.

I assume the Lexus Platinum Care Plan is only offered from dealerships?
I have a 2013 and would love something like that!

It's offered from Lexus Corporate actually, but I believe dealers sell it for them. Only optionable on new or certified pre-owned from a dealer though. I don't see many people that even know about it let alone purchase it. IMO it's worth it's weight in gold.

my Ray Ban Wayfarers fit fine. They're the standard size Wayfarers. (Not sure if they make other sizes.)
Yeah, those should fit. The ones I got are wayfarer style, but the frame is 155 mm, which is 10 mm wider than the standard Wayfarer. Of course, my Privets are only $30...

Oh dang, it works on new too? I was aware of it, but had been told it was only available on CPO. If I knew I would have bought that when I bought mine two years ago.

Slide 5 on the link of my original post says new cars available up to 4 years/50k after purchase and used is 9 years/125k.

Sounds like you might be able to qualify if it's under those. Most people I've seen aren't even aware of this plan. Probably they don't advertise cause the dealers won't make money lol. I think the guy I bought mine from paid 3k total and it's definitely paid out more than that. Also replaced the rear airbags and a few other things under their ownership.

Do modifications void coverage? I'm a big fan of the Carmax warranty but it's voided if you install aftermarket suspension.

Aftermarket modifications don't void any coverage. Magnuson-Mott act puts burden of proof on the policy issuer. If you put aftermarket suspension and your engine has a coolant leak they would have to argue their case. Obviously you likely wouldn't get any suspension coverage for a failure related to your suspension. This is the case with any and all warranties. Likely they just wouldn't sell this policy to you if you are already modified.

Anyone have any 460-related Prime Day deals they're eyeing?
My computers got all the love. Also highly recommend the refurbished 14 TB WD Ultrastars

For whatever reason, the Amazon algorithm is absolutely convinced that I want and need an anvil which is currently 20% off...maybe I do need an anvil?

I did see that Auxbeam had some deals happening if anyone needs a switch panel, and there are usually deals to be had on tools and general-use garage stuff.

What’s the consensus on window vent visors? My wife complains it’s too loud with the windows cracked open. Do these work? Is OEM Prado the best option?

They definitely are louder when the windows are completely closed, but I can have the windows cracked, not get any buffering or rain inside. I have huskies so I have to be able crack the window with those "humidifiers" on the car.

To be honest you could get a $60 box of silass sound deadening sheets from Amazon and get rid of noise from other areas to keep the cabin background noise level roughly the same. The stuff stinks a bit though. Mine smelled weird for about 2-3 weeks, was fine once you got going

Until it can sit through some hot sunny days, mine fit a little weird and would sometimes catch as I installed in the winter

Thanks! I have 2 layers of Silass in my cargo area from my third row delete. Really don’t notice my AT’s without the seats to absorb the noise.

The plus side is you can always pop them out, no adhesive with the weather tech ones.

I don't like their floor mats but I do like their window shades. The dogs love them, too

^I would personally go oem Prado visors, I've never liked the weathertech in-channel vent visors.

Ditto on this. I had weather tech on a prior vehicle and from offroading the in channel ones scratched the glass from dirt and sand deposits and left streaks at the top 2-3in of glass. Highly recommend and external one if you care about that.

Yeah, you have to wipe the top of the windows after car washes. Not a big deal

I can’t use car washes because of my PPF. Hand wash only. I just have no frame of reference for these.
I like that they just slip in, but yea, you have to watch the dirt build up there. The Huskies can make all of the back windows have about three different layers of disgusting drool, so I have to wipe everything down at least once a month
