DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG! THAT WAS QUICK!

Where did you find her?

Simpsonville. Old guy teared up as Lynn drove away. It was totally restored in 2005
even though it was nice then. I assured him it was going to a good home.
Since 2005 it had never been driven in the rain or winter.
Wouldn't you know it, we got caught in a DOWNPOUR coming through Greenville driving
it to Pumpkintown. That isn't going to happen again if I can help it. Car did fine but the
thoughts of all that wet road dirt being spun everywhere kinda made me a little sick. :grinpimp:

sweet...of course I'm biased towards

More British porn. :grinpimp:
Tomorrow she's making her "debut" with a Poker Run sponsored
by the Foothills British Car Club through the mountains to Helen Ga.

I'll be chauffeured by Lynn. :steer: Taking a few fine cigars along for the ride.

SNAP

Just had a flashback to 1971 driving my buddies B into a cobblestone traffic circle in Naples in a downpour. Gunned it in the circle, 180'd and suddenly I'm driving backwards with all these crazy Napolitanos whizzing past me. Then I snapped a reverse bootleg and I was going forward with them again. I'll never know how that worked but it did.
Love a B.

Track fun ahead

Well, Ol Screamin' Mimi is going to Carolina Motor Sports this weekend.
I'm taking it on a trailer for some sessions at the 2+ mile road course.
I'm using the trailer because I switched the rear gear from a 3.7 to a 4.2.
and a 3 + hour trip in the thing is brutal. I'd be deaf and my butt would take weeks to
recover.
I've added a bit of performance goodies since I bought her last year and can't wait
to see how they work.
Nothing too serious just some fun with friends.
I'll be shooting film with the Gopro wide angle camera attached to the roll bar.
I'll post a link to the film on Youtube when uploaded.

What a hoot

Carolina Motor Sports was fantastic!
Hot laps on a road course is pretty exciting.
After a few laps we had to come in for a quick safety inspection before we could
continue.
The inspector mentioned my tires were smoking. No kidding. I was shocked and concerned.
He said...naw don't worry they are good and warmed up. Should be sticky now.
Sooooo...on to a few more laps. ran ol Screamin' Mimi to 8K rpms several times.
Got the rear end loose a time or two. Hit 95mph on the back straight.
Amazingly it held together and drove/handled flawlessly.

That's pretty cool stuff there. I need to get my toy out on a track!

Is it the regearing you did that is allowing you to blow by those guys?

Actually the re-gearing slows my top end. I could only muster about 95+ on
the longest straight. What helps is the ability to turn 8K rpms.
The 4.22 rear gear really helps it shoot out of a corner. The straight cut close ratio
tranny helps keep it up there over 5k where the power hangs out.
You'll notice where I slow for others it takes a bit to get back into the horsepower.
The modified suspension was awesome with those fat tires.
I have some video where I let the others go ahead so I could let it hang out and play chase
but it's boring stuff with no cars ahead. Just screaming motor and squealing tires.

So what flavor is your toy? Pics?

It looked like you had a lot of power at the lower end compared to some of those you passed. I knew the top end would be affected but you were moving along nicely!

I picked up a 1995 Porsche 993 C4 Cab, Euro suspension, Fister exhaust in Sept. Still need to get out and play. Did a drive in the N GA Mountains... was a blast! No rollbar so PCA events are out. Going to need to find some other way to get on a track. Noticed that they didn't require that on your ride, or a helmet for that matter.

Now that Sir is a serious toy!
I have a roll bar and a helmet but neither were required.
I also have a harness and fire extinguisher.
I left the helmet off so as to not look "out of place" among friends.
This was a special event thing for friends set up by
our friend Hap (2000 SCCA National Champ). HP class I think.
Normally an instructor leads the group on a "spirited"
session around the track.
Hap lead us instead.
:grinpimp:
Nothing serious, just some good fun. No turn passing and we all
understood to let a car which could overtake you get by on the straights.
Stick yer hand out and hold your line and speed and let the
overtaker pick his pass. Again it wasn't racing.
There were some Porshe guys there and a group of Euro Tuner things.
Motorcycles too. Heck a Ferrari took a hot lap.

Hap says you can join a sort of Carolina Motor Sports club for like $250
a year and get track time that way too. I'm going to look into that.
This spring I plan to do Walter Mitty days at Road Atlanta.
Similar thing. Non-competitive track time.
That might be just the ticket for you. I understand they'll let you
run about any safe thing on the track. I laughed with some guys and threatened
to take Ol Gundy, the FJ40, to that event.
That toy of yours would be a REAL BLAST on a track.
I'll pm you next time we get together for some fun runs involving curves.

Definitely keep me in mind next time you head out. I'd like to get into some easy track stuff. Nothing like going fast... or slow depending on what I'm driving. :D

I heard that! Don't matter how ya put those "extra" creases in dem seats...just
get 'em in there.
I'll not forget ya pal. Look for a pm one day out of the blue.

If you are up for a "tail of the dragon" trip, there is one being looked at sometime in the spring with a bunch of P guys... I'll let you know how that one comes together too. That's a "must do" someday.
